The FAG 608 single-row deep-groove ball bearing, measuring 8x22x7 mm, accommodates both radial and axial loads in compact installations.
The 608 deep-groove ball bearing is a miniature rolling bearing suitable for a wide range of industrial and workshop applications. This single-row bearing from FAG is made from case-hardened standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) and features rolling elements and raceways with high dimensional accuracy. Thanks to its compact dimensions – an 8 mm bore, 22 mm outside diameter and 7 mm width – the component fits into space-constrained designs. A sturdy sheet steel cage guides the balls evenly into the deep grooves of the inner and outer rings.
Design engineers and maintenance technicians typically use this size in compact shaft mountings, smaller devices or precision mechanical systems. The 608 deep-groove ball bearing primarily absorbs radial forces, but thanks to the geometry of the raceways, it also transmits moderate axial forces in both directions. As the bearing is designed without integrated sealing washers, it runs in with minimal frictional resistance. It is therefore particularly suitable for drives where smooth running is required and the bearing housing already has an external seal.
As an open rolling bearing, this design has no factory-fitted sealing or cover rings. You determine the lubricant – grease or oil – yourself, to suit the operating conditions of your system. A clean installation environment helps to ensure that no foreign particles enter the raceways. With standard radial bearing clearance and tolerance class P0, the bearing meets the requirements of standard shaft and housing fits within the permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
The 608 deep-groove ball bearing has an inner diameter of 8 mm, an outer diameter of 22 mm and a width of 7 mm. These standardised dimensions make this miniature bearing a versatile machine component for compact shaft mountings in various technical devices and equipment.
Open bearings do not have integrated seals or cover plates at the ends. The rolling elements and the sheet steel cage are freely accessible within the bearing ring. This design offers particularly low rotational resistance, but requires a protected housing or an external seal to prevent lubricant loss and the ingress of dirt.
This model, made from standard 100Cr6 roller bearing steel with a sheet steel cage, is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees. Within this temperature range, the bearing material retains its dimensional stability. Select a lubricant for your application whose thermal resistance is suitable for the specific operating temperatures of your application.
The component is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance. This standard bearing clearance provides the appropriate operating clearance for typical shaft and housing fits, as well as moderate operating temperatures. This prevents the rolling elements from becoming jammed, whilst at the same time ensuring precise guidance of the rotating shaft during operation.
Tolerance class P0 (equivalent to ABEC 1) defines the standard accuracy for dimensional, form and running deviations in rolling bearings. It is sufficient for the vast majority of standard industrial applications and ensures a reliable fit on cylindrical shafts and in mounting bores.
As open roller bearings are not supplied by the manufacturer with permanent lubrication, lubrication is carried out during assembly or via the surrounding housing system. Depending on the speed and design, you can apply suitable rolling-element bearing greases or lubricating oils to protect the contact between the rolling elements and the raceways against wear.
