The SKF 607-Z deep groove ball bearing, measuring 7x19x6 mm, offers compact dimensions for precise shaft support in spaces where installation clearance is minimal.
The 607-Z deep groove ball bearing provides designers with a single-row miniature rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) in the SKF Explorer design. The component primarily accommodates radial forces as well as moderate axial loads. Manufactured to a dimensional accuracy of P6 and a running accuracy of P5, this bearing supports assemblies with high demands on precise concentricity and guidance accuracy. A robust sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements reliably within a temperature range of –20 to +150 degrees Celsius.
This miniature bearing is primarily used where compact dimensions must be combined with precise guidance. Typical applications include compact shaft mountings, precision mechanical drives and devices with limited installation space. Thanks to its standard radial clearance, the bearing is suitable for standard operating conditions without excessive thermal expansion of the shaft. The cylindrical outer ring, which has no flange or groove, allows for flush mounting in smooth housing bores.
The ‘-Z’ designation stands for a non-contacting sheet metal cover on one side of the bearing. This cover keeps coarse dirt particles away from the rolling elements without generating additional frictional resistance or measurable heat build-up. At the same time, the opposite side remains open. This allows for targeted relubrication or supply via the housing’s lubrication circuit. During installation, it is recommended that the protected side be oriented towards the source of contamination.
With a bore of 7 mm, an outside diameter of 19 mm and a width of 6 mm, the bearing has standardised miniature dimensions. These dimensions allow for direct replacement in the existing installation spaces of precision guides and small drives.
The designation ‘Z’ refers to a cover plate made of sheet steel, fitted on one side. It acts as a non-contact gap seal against solid foreign objects. As there is no sliding contact with the shaft, the frictional torque remains low and rotational speeds are not reduced.
P6 specifies tighter manufacturing tolerances with regard to dimensional accuracy for bores and outer diameters. The running accuracy specified in P5 ensures particularly precise concentricity of the rings during operation, which minimises vibrations and running noise.
Designed for operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +150 degrees Celsius, 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and sheet steel cages retain their dimensional stability and mechanical properties. This enables their use in more thermally demanding environments without premature loss of strength.
As the factory-set radial clearance when the bearing is unmounted, the standard radial bearing clearance ensures that a safe residual clearance is maintained after assembly onto the shaft and housing. It is designed to suit standard fit conditions and prevents excessive stress.
The bearing rings and rolling elements are made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). The cage, which guides the balls, is made from pressed sheet steel, which contributes to high mechanical stability whilst keeping the weight low.
