The SKF 6022 deep groove ball bearing, an open rolling bearing with a 110 mm bore, offers high positioning accuracy for industrial applications.
The SKF 6022 single-row deep groove ball bearing is a radial rolling bearing designed for high-speed industrial applications. With key dimensions of 110 mm inner diameter, 170 mm outer diameter and a width of 28 mm, it accommodates both radial and axial loads. As a variant of the Explorer performance class, the bearing is made from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6) and features a sheet steel cage and standard radial clearance.
The 6022 deep groove ball bearing is suitable for rotating assemblies subject to combined loads, which are predominantly radial in nature and supplemented by axial forces in both directions. The single-row design guides the shaft precisely within the bearing seat. As the design is open at both ends, its use requires a protected installation space, such as an enclosed machine housing with targeted oil or grease lubrication.
This rolling bearing combines the P6 tolerance class for dimensional accuracy with the standard running accuracy class PN. The tighter dimensional tolerance to P6 facilitates precise fitting into housings and onto shafts, which reduces vibrations during operation. As there are no integrated friction seals to generate friction, the open bearing runs smoothly. Operation requires an external sealing system to prevent the ingress of contaminants, as well as a lubricant supply within a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees.
With a bore of 110 mm, an outer diameter of 170 mm and a width of 28 mm, the bearing complies with standardised main dimensions. These dimensions define the required installation space on the shaft and within the bearing housing. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a ring groove.
P6 denotes a tighter tolerance class than the standard for dimensional accuracy in relation to internal and external diameters. The reduced dimensional deviations allow for a more precise fit on the shaft and in the housing. The running accuracy corresponds to the standard PN class, meaning the bearing is designed for smooth operation.
The permissible operating temperature range is between -20 and +120 degrees. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) with a sheet steel cage, the rings and rolling elements retain their dimensional stability within this range. Any lubricant used must also be specified for these operating temperatures.
Without integrated sealing washers, there are no friction losses caused by rubbing sealing lips, which keeps heat build-up to a minimum at high speeds. To ensure this, the bearing requires a clean installation environment or external housing seals to prevent the ingress of dirt particles and the escape of lubricant.
This model features standard radial bearing clearance without any additional suffix. This clearance provides the appropriate operating clearance for standard shaft and housing fits at balanced operating temperatures, ensuring that the rolling elements roll along the raceways without undue stress.
Inside the bearing, a sheet steel cage keeps the balls at a uniform distance apart and prevents them from coming into contact with one another. Thanks to its open design, the cage allows unimpeded lubricant flow to the raceways and contributes to the compact, lightweight construction of the entire rolling element assembly.
