The 6020-2Z deep-groove ball bearing from FAG Wälzlager, measuring 100 x 150 x 24 mm, provides reliable support for radial loads with non-contact shields on both sides.
The 6020-2Z deep groove ball bearing from FAG Wälzlager is a single-row rolling bearing for industrial applications subject to predominantly radial loads. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, this design also accommodates moderate axial forces in both directions. The main dimensions are a bore diameter of 100 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a width of 24 mm. Thanks to the flangeless cylindrical outer ring, the bearing fits directly into smooth housing bores. At standard speeds, the design ensures low-friction operation.
The 6020-2Z deep groove ball bearing is particularly suitable for rotating shafts and industrial drives subject to predominantly radial loads and continuous speeds. In such applications, the bearing absorbs radial forces whilst maintaining a high load-carrying capacity. The sheet metal cover plates on both sides protect the interior from coarse particles in the environment. As the cover plates operate without contact, no additional frictional heat is generated, which makes it suitable for use at continuous speeds.
The suffix -2Z denotes two pressed-in sheet steel cover plates which shield the interior of the bearing against the ingress of solid foreign particles. Unlike abiding seals, these gap seals allow higher speeds as they rotate without friction. The bearing has a standard radial clearance and a tolerance class of P0/PN (ABEC 1), making it suitable for common shaft and housing fits in mechanical engineering. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly within a permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
This bearing has an inside diameter of 100 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a width of 24 mm. Thanks to these standardised key dimensions, it can be fitted precisely into corresponding shaft seats and housing bores during repairs or new designs.
The designation -2Z refers to cover plates made of profiled sheet steel fitted on both sides. These gap covers keep coarse dirt and particles out of the rolling element chamber and retain the lubricant inside. As the sheet metal discs do not come into contact with the inner ring, they do not generate any additional friction during operation.
The component can be operated within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. This range is determined by the standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel used and the sheet steel cage. For applications outside this temperature range, special bearing designs with specific lubricants or heat treatments are required.
The standard radial bearing clearance defines the internal clearance between the rolling elements and raceways in the initial state, when no load is applied. It is designed to suit the standard transition and interference fits used in general mechanical engineering. Once the bearing has been pressed onto the shaft, this clearance is reduced, by design, to the operating clearance required for low-vibration operation.
Both the raceways and the rolling elements are manufactured from through-hardened standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). This material is characterised by high strength and dimensional stability under continuous loads. Together with the robust sheet steel cage, this ensures uniform guidance of the rolling elements across the entire speed range.
The bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0 (also known as standard tolerance PN or ABEC 1). This class covers the standard dimensional and runout tolerances for standardised industrial applications. When designing the bearing seats, it is advisable to match the shaft and housing tolerances to this accuracy grade.
