The 6014 single-row deep-groove ball bearing from FAG Wälzlager, with dimensions of 70x110x20 mm, offers a tried-and-tested solution for a wide range of industrial applications.
The 6014 deep-groove ball bearing from FAG Wälzlager is designed as an open, single-row radial bearing for high speeds and combined radial and axial loads. The rings and rolling elements are made from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6), which ensures smooth force transmission. As it is manufactured to standard tolerance P0 (ABEC 1), this rolling bearing can be easily fitted into existing designs. It is suitable for designs requiring a precisely fitting replacement bearing or a functional component for new designs.
Typical applications for the 6014 deep groove ball bearing are found in general mechanical engineering for shaft mountings subject to combined loads. As the bearing primarily absorbs radial forces whilst simultaneously handling moderate axial forces in both directions, it meets a wide range of requirements. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements with low friction and low vibration. Designs featuring rotating shafts benefit from the smooth guidance and stable geometry of the deep raceways.
As an open bearing, this design has no integrated sealing washers. This allows lubricant to reach the raceways and balls directly, making it suitable for use in externally lubricated housings or oil-lubricated systems. An operating temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees is permitted. During assembly, the standard radial bearing clearance ensures appropriate operating clearance, provided the shaft and housing bore comply with standard tolerances. External seals in the housing cover protect the component from contamination.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 70 mm, an outside diameter of 110 mm and a width of 20 mm. The cylindrical outer ring has no groove or flange. Thanks to these standardised dimensions, this model is suitable for standard-compliant shafts and bearing housings in mechanical and plant engineering.
Standard radial bearing clearance, often referred to as CN, describes the factory-set radial clearance when the bearing is in its unmounted state. It ensures that the bearing rotates freely on the shaft after being fitted and compensates for temperature-induced expansion, thereby preventing harmful stresses on the rolling elements.
Open roller bearings do not have their own cover plates or sealing discs and therefore exhibit minimal frictional torque. This design is particularly suitable for enclosed spaces such as gearboxes or oil-bath applications, where the lubricant circulates freely and external housing seals prevent the ingress of dirt particles.
The permissible operating range is from -20 to +150 degrees. The dimensionally stable sheet steel cage and the 100Cr6 roller bearing steel retain their dimensional stability within this range. The thermal load capacity of the lubricant used in the unit is decisive for the actual operating temperature range.
The component is manufactured to tolerance class P0 (equivalent to PN or ABEC 1). This complies with the current standard for industrial roller bearings and offers a good balance between dimensional accuracy, concentricity and cost-effective interchangeability for repairs and mass-production applications.
