The 6012-2RSR deep groove ball bearing from FAG Wälzlager is a double-sealed rolling bearing measuring 60 x 95 x 18 mm, designed for a wide range of industrial applications.
The 6012-2RSR deep groove ball bearing from FAG Rolling Bearings is a single-row radial ball bearing for shafts with a diameter of 60 mm. It accommodates radial loads as well as axial forces in both directions. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6 and fitted with a sheet steel cage, this bearing is suitable for heavy-duty mechanical applications. Thanks to its standard radial clearance and manufacture to tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1), the component fits into existing shaft and housing fits.
The 6012-2RSR deep groove ball bearing is primarily used on rotating shafts operating at moderate temperatures. This design primarily absorbs radial forces and also supports shafts in the axial direction. Thanks to its flangeless cylindrical outer ring, the bearing can be fitted into standardised housing bores.
As the component operates within a temperature range of -20 to +100 degrees, it meets typical requirements in mechanical engineering. It is suitable for environments where solid particles or moisture need to be kept out of the bearing interior.
The double-sided 2RSR seal, with its abiding sealing lips, protects the bearing interior from dust, dirt and moisture whilst retaining the lubricant within the bearing. This contact-type seal variant reduces maintenance requirements during operation compared with open designs.
During installation, it should be borne in mind that the abutting sealing lips result in a slight increase in friction compared with non-contact cover plates. It is advisable to check the planned operating speed and the permissible temperature range up to +100 degrees in advance to avoid thermal overload of the seal material.
The bearing has a bore of 60 mm, an outer diameter of 95 mm and a width of 18 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable a precise fit when replacing bearings in standardised industrial housings and on corresponding shaft seats without the need for design modifications, thereby minimising downtime during repairs.
The designation 2RSR indicates grinding sealing lips fitted on both sides. These rest against the inner ring and seal the rolling element chamber against contaminants and grease leakage. This protects the interior of the bearing from dirt and moisture, thereby enhancing operational reliability in dusty environments.
This model has standard radial bearing clearance. Bearing clearance refers to the radial play between the rolling elements and the raceways when the bearing is unmounted. Standard bearing clearance is suitable for standard fit conditions and moderate operating temperatures, where there is no significant thermal expansion of the shaft.
The permissible temperature range is between -20 and +100 degrees Celsius. The upper limit is primarily determined by the material of the sealing lips in contact and the factory-fitted grease filling. Use at temperatures above +100 degrees may damage the seal and impair its lubricating effect.
The bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. This standard defines the permissible dimensional and runout tolerances for common industrial applications. It helps to ensure that the shaft and housing bore can be manufactured to standardised fit tolerances in order to achieve uniform concentricity.
The inner and outer rings, as well as the balls, are made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). This case-hardened chrome steel offers high wear resistance and fatigue strength under continuous rolling loads. The integrated cage is made of profiled sheet steel and guides the rolling elements evenly along the raceway.
