The SKF 6007 -2Z/C3 deep groove ball bearing, measuring 35x62x14 mm, with sheet metal end shields on both sides and a C3 clearance, offers a reliable solution for rotating shafts.
The SKF 6007 -2Z/C3 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing made from 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel in the Explorer design. It primarily accommodates radial loads as well as moderate axial forces in both directions. Thanks to its manufacture to tolerance class P6, this component is characterised by enhanced concentricity. Design engineers and maintenance engineers opt for this design when quiet, smooth running is required in mechanical and plant engineering.
This single-row deep-groove ball bearing is primarily used in rotating assemblies and drive systems where constant speeds and moderate radial forces are encountered. Thanks to its robust sheet steel cage and an operating temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees, it performs reliably under demanding industrial conditions. The non-contacting cover plates keep coarse dirt and solid particles out of the bearing interior. At the same time, they enable high rotational speeds, as they do not generate any additional friction compared to sliding seals.
The suffixes provide information about the seal and the radial bearing clearance. The designation 2Z stands for sheet metal cover plates fitted on both sides, which retain the lubricant within the bearing. The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance compensates for thermal expansion caused by heating during operation or tight fits on the shaft and housing, without causing the rolling elements to become stressed.
With an internal diameter of 35 mm, an external diameter of 62 mm and a width of 14 mm, the bearing has standardised main dimensions. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a ring groove. These dimensions allow for direct installation in suitable housings and shaft seats.
The 2Z cover plates are made of profiled sheet steel and form a narrow gap with the inner ring shoulder. As there is no direct sliding contact, no significant frictional heat is generated compared with elastic sealing lips. The bearing is therefore well suited to applications involving higher speeds and moderate dust exposure.
The C3 classification describes an increased radial bearing clearance prior to installation. It is selected when thermal expansion occurs due to temperature differences between the inner and outer rings, or when tight interference fits reduce the bearing clearance. In this way, sufficient operating clearance is maintained even when the bearing is hot during operation.
The P6 tolerance class corresponds to the ABEC 3 standard and specifies tighter dimensional and running tolerances than the standard basic tolerance. This results in greater concentricity of the shaft, reduces vibrations during operation and promotes smooth running in precision industrial drive systems.
The permissible operating temperature range is between -20 and +120 degrees. The roller bearing steel, the sheet steel cage and the metal end plates all retain their mechanical stability and dimensional accuracy within this temperature range.
