The SKF 6003-2Z deep groove ball bearing features compact dimensions of 17x35x10 mm and non-contact end shields on both sides for reliable operation.
This single-row deep-groove ball bearing 6003-2Z primarily transmits radial forces and also accommodates axial loads in both directions. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel in the SKF Explorer design, the component is characterised by dimensional accuracy to P6 and running accuracy to P5. A sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly into the deep raceways of the outer and inner rings, which have no flange or groove.
Designs subject to combined radial and axial loads, as well as those with limited installation space, utilise this rolling bearing due to its precise running characteristics. The combination of standard radial clearance and increased precision ensures that the bearing operates with low noise and vibration levels. The two non-contacting sheet metal cover plates keep out coarse dirt and dust particles whilst retaining the lubricant within the bearing chamber. This version is ready for direct installation in applications with operating temperatures ranging from –20 to +120 degrees.
Compared to abrasive seals, the metal cover plates do not generate any additional frictional torque, meaning the bearing remains suitable for high speeds. The tight manufacturing tolerances – P6 for dimensions and P5 for concentricity – support precisely guided shafts. When designing the housing and shaft, please take into account the dimensions of a 17 mm bore, 35 mm outer diameter and 10 mm width.
The component has an internal diameter of 17 mm, an external diameter of 35 mm and a total width of 10 mm. The cylindrical outer ring has no mounting flange or snap ring groove, which allows the bearing to fit compactly into cylindrical housing bores.
The designation -2Z refers to cover plates made of profiled sheet steel fitted on both sides. These shields form a non-contact sealing gap with the inner ring. They protect the bearing interior from the ingress of solid contaminants whilst preventing the escape of grease, without generating frictional heat.
This rolling bearing is designed for use at ambient temperatures between -20 degrees and +120 degrees. The combination of standard 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel, a sheet steel cage and metallic gap seals fully accommodates the typical thermal conditions found in electrical and mechanical industrial drives.
This grade specifies tighter manufacturing tolerances than those for standard bearings. The bearing has an outer diameter accuracy class of P6, whilst its running accuracy corresponds to the even finer P5 class. This reduces both radial and axial deviations and ensures smooth running.
No, single-row deep-groove ball bearings with cover plates on both sides are factory-filled with a carefully selected grease. They are ready for use and should neither be washed out nor regreased prior to installation, as the sheet metal cover plates cannot be removed without causing damage.
