The SKF 6205-ZNR deep groove ball bearing combines dimensions of 25 × 52 × 15 mm with a snap ring and a single-sided cover plate for space-saving housing installation.
The 6205-ZNR deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) in the SKF Explorer design. The component primarily accommodates radial forces as well as axial loads in both directions. The single-sided sheet metal cover protects one side against dirt particles, whilst the opposite side remains accessible for lubricant supply. A robust sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly along the raceway.
Design engineers and maintenance personnel opt for this design when installation space is limited in the axial direction and conventional housing shoulders cannot be used. The bearing is suitable for compact mounting arrangements with axial fixation directly in the housing bore. The integrated snap ring secures the bearing positively, eliminating the need for additional retaining rings or housing covers. At operating temperatures ranging from –20 to +150 degrees, the unit operates reliably even in thermally demanding environments.
The combination of the ring groove and snap ring on the outer ring enables a positive-fit axial fixation directly within the bearing seat. This simplifies the housing design and counteracts unwanted axial displacement under load. Furthermore, this design is characterised by increased precision: dimensional accuracy to tolerance class P6 and running accuracy to P5 contribute to smooth concentricity. With standard radial bearing clearance, the component is easy to install.
With a bore of 25 mm, an outside diameter of 52 mm and a width of 15 mm, the bearing offers compact standard dimensions. This geometry allows for space-saving designs in single-row ball bearings.
ZNR denotes the combination of a single-sided sheet metal cover (Z) and a ring groove with an inserted retaining ring (NR) in the outer ring. This design provides one-sided protection against dirt and secures the housing axially.
The permissible temperature range is from -20 to +150 degrees. The standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) and the dimensionally stable sheet steel cage contribute to stable running performance within this temperature range.
The bearing is manufactured to dimensional accuracy in accordance with tolerance class P6 and running accuracy in accordance with tolerance class P5. These tight manufacturing tolerances ensure precise guidance and high rotational accuracy during operation.
A snap ring in the ring groove of the outer ring secures the bearing positively directly within the housing bore. This eliminates the need for axial stop shoulders or additional retaining elements in the housing.
