The SKF 16014 deep groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 70x110x13 mm and tolerance class P6, provides a narrow, precise bearing arrangement for radial loads.
The SKF 16014 single-row deep groove ball bearing accommodates radial forces and is suitable for transmitting moderate axial loads in both directions. Thanks to its narrow width of just 13 mm and an outside diameter of 110 mm, this rolling bearing saves axial installation space. Manufactured as an open version in the SKF Explorer performance class, the component is made from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6) and guides the rolling elements in a sturdy sheet-steel cage. Designs benefit from this precise rolling-bearing component.
This rolling bearing is primarily used where narrow axial dimensions are combined with shaft diameters of 70 mm. Typical applications are found in general mechanical engineering for shaft mountings with very limited installation space. As the bearing is open at both ends, it can be integrated directly into oil-lubricated systems or housings fitted with external seals provided by the customer. The permissible temperature range extends from –20 to +120 degrees Celsius and is suitable for corresponding thermal environmental conditions.
Manufacture to tolerance class P6 (corresponding to ABEC 3) offers tighter dimensional and running accuracies than standard tolerances. Together with the normal radial bearing clearance, this ensures smooth concentricity and low vibration levels when fitted correctly. When designing the system, take the open design into account: it requires external lubrication as well as protection against the ingress of dirt particles. For designers and maintenance engineers, the bearing provides a reliable foundation provided that shaft seats and housing bores are machined to the correct dimensions.
This design combines roller bearing steel (100Cr6) with a particularly narrow profile. With a bore of 70 mm and an outside diameter of 110 mm, the width is just 13 mm. In the SKF Explorer version with a sheet steel cage, the bearing accommodates radial loads as well as moderate axial forces.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 70 mm, an outside diameter of 110 mm and a width of 13 mm. This specific cross-sectional ratio allows the bearing to be fitted to large-diameter shafts whilst saving space. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a ring groove.
An open bearing has no integrated seals or cover plates. This allows lubricant, such as gear oil or grease, to reach the raceways and rolling elements within the housing unhindered. Furthermore, the non-contact design minimises friction during operation. To protect the bearing from contamination, sealing must be provided by the surrounding machine housing.
Tolerance class P6 (comparable to ABEC 3) denotes tighter dimensional, form and running tolerances compared with the standard tolerance class. This increased precision ensures low-vibration and low-noise operation. It is recommended for applications that place increased demands on concentricity and where the bearing seats have been machined to a correspondingly high standard of finish.
The specification stipulates an operating temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. As the rings, rolling elements and cage are made entirely of steel, it is primarily the lubricant used that limits the thermal load capacity. Always select the grease or lubricating oil to be used to suit the actual operating temperatures of your system.
The standard radial bearing clearance defines the radial play specified by the manufacturer in the unmounted state for typical installation situations. It helps to ensure that a defined operating clearance remains after the bearing has been pressed onto the shaft and housing. In cases of significant thermal expansion or tight fits, increased bearing clearance classes such as C3 are often used, whilst the standard version covers universal operating conditions.
