The FAG 6022 -2Z deep-groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing with a 110 mm bore, an outer diameter of 170 mm and end shields on both sides.
As a radial ball bearing, the FAG 6022 -2Z deep groove ball bearing primarily withstands radial loads as well as moderate axial loads. With key dimensions of 110 mm inner diameter, 170 mm outer diameter and 28 mm width, this bearing fits into standardised housings. The rings and rolling elements are made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6). A sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly in the deep raceway. The component is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees.
This single-row deep-groove ball bearing accommodates radial and moderate axial loads in rotating shaft assemblies. The design, which has no flange or groove on the outer ring, allows for flush mounting in cylindrical housing bores. The version in standard tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1) is suitable for industrial designs requiring normal concentricity. The double-sided lip seal protects the bearing interior from dirt particles whilst the component rotates with low friction.
The designation 2Z or ZZ stands for two non-contacting cover plates made from profiled sheet steel. Unlike abiding seals, these gap seals do not generate any additional frictional resistance and limit temperature rise at high speeds. Standard radial bearing clearance is designed for typical fits and operating temperatures between -30 and +120 degrees. Before installation, it is advisable to check the dimensional accuracy of the shaft and housing to prevent the rolling elements from becoming jammed.
With an internal diameter of 110 mm, an external diameter of 170 mm and a width of 28 mm, this design complies with the standardised main dimensions for single-row bearings. The outer ring is cylindrical in shape and has neither a flange nor a ring groove.
The 2Z version is characterised by two cover discs, pressed in on both sides, made of profiled sheet steel. These discs form a non-contact sealing gap with the inner ring shoulder. They keep out dirt particles and minimise lubricant leakage without generating additional heat through frictional contact.
The permissible operating range is from -30 to +120 degrees. Within these limits, both the 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability and mechanical properties. For applications outside this range, special material and lubricant specifications are required.
The standard radial clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways when the bearing is unmounted defines the normal bearing clearance. This design is tailored to standard fits, so that the required operating clearance for smooth rotation is maintained after the bearing has been pressed onto the shaft.
A sheet steel cage maintains an even spacing between the rolling elements and prevents them from coming into contact with one another. The sheet steel design is characterised by its low weight, is resistant to standard lubricating greases and is suitable for operating temperatures up to +120 degrees.
Standardised dimensional and runout tolerances in accordance with ISO are defined by tolerance class P0, which also corresponds to the ABEC 1 designation. It covers standard requirements in mechanical engineering without the need for special precision fits on the shaft or housing.
