The SKF 6215 -2Z/C3 deep groove ball bearing, measuring 75x130x25 mm, features non-contacting cover plates and increased bearing clearance for industrial speeds.
The 6215 -2Z/C3 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing from SKF, manufactured from standard rolling-element steel (100Cr6). The component primarily absorbs radial loads and guides shafts with a diameter of 75 mm within the housing. Thanks to the symmetrical raceway geometry, the design also transmits axial forces in both directions. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly along the raceway, which reduces vibrations and promotes smooth running.
This design is primarily used in shaft bearings operating at medium to high speeds which must accommodate axial loads as well as radial forces. As the bearing is covered on both sides by sheet metal end shields (2Z), the interior of the bearing is protected from coarse particles, whilst lubricant remains within the component. As the cover plates operate without contact, no additional frictional resistance is generated, which keeps heat build-up to a minimum at higher speeds.
The suffix C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This increased clearance between the balls and the raceway compensates for thermal expansion that may occur during continuous operation at higher temperatures or due to tight fits on the shaft and housing. The bearing is suitable for a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. With tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1) and a flangeless outer ring, the component can be fitted with precision.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 75 mm, an outer diameter of 130 mm and a width of 25 mm. These dimensions allow for direct replacement in existing assemblies without the need to modify the shaft or the bearing housing.
The designation -2Z indicates that sheet steel cover plates are fitted on both sides. These non-contacting covers protect the interior of the bearing from dirt particles. As the plates do not come into contact with the inner ring, they do not generate any additional friction and allow for high rotational speeds.
Bearing clearance class C3 offers greater radial clearance than the standard version. If the shaft and inner ring heat up during operation, or if a tight fit is selected, the material expands. The increased bearing clearance serves to prevent the rolling elements from becoming stressed and to counteract premature wear.
This model is designed for use in a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. Within this range, the components made of roller bearing steel (100Cr6) and the sheet steel cage retain their mechanical properties and dimensional stability.
The bearing rings and the rolling elements are made of standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6). This material is characterised by high strength and wear resistance under rolling contact. A sheet steel cage is used to guide the single-row balls and ensure they are evenly spaced.
The bearing complies with tolerance class P0 or PN, which is equivalent to ABEC 1. This design offers the standard level of accuracy in terms of concentricity and dimensional stability for standard applications in mechanical engineering.
