The 6248-m deep-groove ball bearing from FAG Wälzlager, with an outer diameter of 440 mm and a brass cage, provides a robust guidance system for demanding industrial applications.
The 6248-m deep groove ball bearing from FAG Wälzlager is a single-row bearing made from standard bearing steel for applications subject to predominantly radial loads. With an outer diameter of 440 mm and a width of 72 mm, this open design also accommodates axial forces in both directions. The cylindrical bore facilitates mounting on the shaft. Design engineers and maintenance personnel use this size primarily in heavy-duty industrial gearboxes, conveyor drives and large rotating machinery.
This large-size rolling bearing is suitable for heavy-duty industrial plant where high radial forces must be reliably supported. Thanks to its deep groove geometry, the 6248-m deep groove ball bearing accommodates both radial loads and axial forces in both directions. Typical applications include heavily loaded shaft guides and industrial drives with continuous force transmission. Due to its open design without integrated sealing washers, the bearing can be lubricated directly via the housing system. The permissible temperature range is from –30 to +200 °C.
The integrated brass cage guides the rolling elements with dimensional stability and low vibration, even under demanding operating conditions. Solid brass is particularly suitable for applications involving vibrations and reliably covers the temperature range up to +200 °C. For maintenance engineers and purchasers, this means high stability in heavy-duty industrial machinery. The bearing has a standard radial clearance. Carefully match the choice of lubricant and the environmental seal to the open design, as otherwise dirt particles will be able to reach the raceways unhindered.
The bearing has an outer diameter of 440 mm and a width of 72 mm. It features a cylindrical bore for direct mounting on a cylindrical shaft. As a single-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel, it is designed for demanding mechanical installation conditions in large machinery.
Open bearings do not have integrated cover plates or sealing washers. This design allows for a continuous supply of oil or grease via the machine housing. At the same time, open roller bearings can be easily relubricated and visually inspected for wear during maintenance work. External seals in the housing protect the raceways from the ingress of foreign particles.
A brass cage offers high mechanical strength and guides the balls precisely along the raceway, even under severe vibration or shock loads. Brass also has good heat resistance. This makes this roller bearing suitable for demanding applications at temperatures of up to +200 °C.
The standard factory-set clearance between the rolling elements and raceways compensates for operational thermal expansion and fit-related effects when the bearing is unmounted. It is designed for normal operating temperatures without any significant temperature gradients between the inner and outer rings.
The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +200 °C. The robust brass cage and the heat-treated standard roller bearing steel retain their dimensional stability even at elevated operating temperatures. At high temperatures, ensure that you use a lubricant that is thermally approved for this application.
As a radial deep-groove ball bearing, it primarily absorbs high radial forces perpendicular to the shaft. Thanks to the continuous, deep raceways in the inner and outer rings, this design also transmits axial forces in both directions. This makes the bearing suitable for a wide range of applications in complex industrial drive systems.
