The SKF 6016-2Z deep-groove ball bearing, with an 80 mm bore, sheet metal shields on both sides and P6 dimensional accuracy, provides precise support for industrial applications.
The single-row deep groove ball bearing 6016-2Z is a versatile rolling bearing designed to accommodate primarily radial loads as well as moderate axial forces in both directions. SKF manufactures this version in the Explorer performance class from standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6. A guided sheet steel cage maintains an even spacing between the rolling elements and contributes to a harmonious load distribution. The end shields on both sides protect the bearing interior from dirt particles and help to retain the lubricant inside.
Applications can be found throughout general mechanical and plant engineering wherever rotating shafts with a diameter of 80 mm are mounted. Thanks to its permissible temperature range of –20 to +120 degrees, the component covers common thermal operating conditions in production plants. The version without a flange or groove on the cylindrical outer ring is designed for direct installation in smooth housing bores. Design engineers primarily use this design for applications involving continuous rotational movement and moderate axial loads.
The metallic cover discs, designated 2Z, connect to the inner ring on both sides without contact. This prevents any additional frictional heat arising from sliding contact, which facilitates high rotational speeds. The increased dimensional accuracy to tolerance class P6 allows for tighter tolerance ranges for the bearing seat on the shaft and housing. In combination with the standard radial bearing clearance and standard running accuracy PN, this rolling bearing is suitable for applications without unusual thermal expansion in the bearing seat.
With an internal diameter of 80 mm, an external diameter of 125 mm and a width of 22 mm, this bearing complies with the standardised key dimensions. This enables it to be fitted precisely into standardised housings and onto corresponding shaft sections.
The abbreviation 2Z denotes cover plates made of profiled sheet steel fitted on both sides. These plates form a non-contacting gap with the inner ring. They shield the interior from solid particles and do not cause any additional frictional torque during operation.
The designation P6 indicates a manufacturing tolerance for bore and external diameters, as well as width, that is tighter than the standard tolerance. This improves the fit accuracy on the shaft and within the housing, whilst the running accuracy for this version corresponds to the PN standard class.
The permissible operating range is between -20 and +120 degrees. This range is limited by the material of the sheet steel cage, the cover plate mounting and the thermal load-bearing capacity of the 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel used under standard conditions.
Normal radial bearing clearance means that the internal clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways is within the standard range. It is used when standard fits are selected and no extreme temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings during operation.
Both the solid rings and the balls are made from standard 100Cr6 roller bearing steel. This case-hardened chrome steel is characterised by high compressive strength and dimensional stability under radial loads.
