The SKF 6207 -Z/C3 deep groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 35x72x17 mm and a C3 clearance, offers reliable running characteristics under thermal loads.
The SKF 6207 -Z/C3 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) for rotating shafts with a diameter of 35 mm. As a versatile component, this design primarily accommodates radial forces as well as moderate axial loads in both directions. The design combines a sturdy sheet steel cage with a single-sided sheet metal cover. This leaves one side of the bearing accessible for lubricant entry, whilst the protected side prevents the ingress of coarse dirt particles.
In industrial applications, the 6207 -Z/C3 deep groove ball bearing is particularly suitable for rotating assemblies in which shafts generate heat during operation. Thanks to its P0/PN (ABEC 1) tolerance class, the component fits precisely into standardised bearing seats. The single-sided Z-cover proves useful in sealed housings where lubricating oil circulates, but where the opposite side needs to be shielded from dirt particles. The permissible temperature range is from -20 to +150 degrees Celsius.
The increased C3 radial clearance compensates for dimensional changes when the shaft and inner ring heat up during operation. This prevents the rolling elements from becoming stressed due to thermal expansion. In addition, the non-contact Z-cover generates no additional frictional heat, as there is no sliding sealing contact. In terms of design, the open side faces the lubricant side, tailored to the main dimensions of a 35 mm bore, 72 mm outer diameter and 17 mm width.
With an internal diameter of 35 mm, an external diameter of 72 mm and a width of 17 mm, the bearing complies with standardised dimensions. The outer ring has neither a flange nor a ring groove. This allows the roller bearing to fit precisely into standardised cylindrical housing seats in industrial mechanical engineering.
C3 denotes a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This increased radial bearing clearance serves to compensate for thermal expansion of the shaft and inner ring during operation, without causing undesirable stresses or increased friction in the rolling element area.
The Z-deck disc, made of sheet steel, covers the bearing on one side without coming into contact with the inner ring gap. It keeps out coarse dirt particles and reduces grease leakage. As there is no abrasive contact, no additional friction is generated, whilst the uncovered opposite side allows for relubrication within the housing.
The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees Celsius. Both the robust sheet steel cage and the rings and rolling elements, made from 100Cr6 bearing steel, retain their dimensional stability within this range. When using the bearing, the temperature resistance of the lubricant employed must also be taken into account.
A sturdy sheet steel cage guides the single-row arrangement of rolling elements inside. Sheet steel cages are characterised by their low weight and high mechanical load-bearing capacity. They are suitable for continuous operation and retain their shape when used with standard lubricants.
The ball bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 or PN, which is comparable to ABEC 1. This standard tolerance meets the usual requirements of mechanical engineering and allows for correct fitting onto cylindrical shaft seats and into corresponding housing bores.
