The FAG deep groove ball bearing 6212 -TB-P6-C3 (60x110x22 mm) combines P6 tolerance, a hard-fabric cage and C3 clearance for demanding industrial drives.
The FAG 6212 -TB-P6-C3 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel 100Cr6, with dimensions of a 60 mm bore, an outer diameter of 110 mm and a width of 22 mm. This open design, without sealing washers, features a cylindrical outer ring without a flange or groove. Thanks to the finer P6 tolerance class, the bearing offers greater positioning accuracy. The rolling elements and raceways accommodate radial loads as well as axial forces on both sides. The permissible temperature range is from –20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
This roller bearing is used primarily in industrial drive bearings and high-speed shafts, particularly where high rotational speeds and thermal influences occur simultaneously. The integrated hard-fibre cage operates quietly and with low vibration, which aids the guidance of the ball rows during rapid rotation. Thanks to the slightly increased radial clearance (C3), the component compensates for thermal expansion between the shaft and housing without causing internal stresses. The open design also allows for targeted lubrication via external oil or grease systems within the housing.
Manufacture to tolerance class P6 or ABEC 3 reduces runout errors and dimensional deviations compared with bearings with standard tolerances. Design engineers and maintenance personnel choose this variant when precise shaft guidance is required. The hard-fibre cage has a low weight, which reduces centrifugal forces within the rolling element set. As the bearing is unsealed, you should ensure that the design incorporates an external housing seal to protect against contamination. When designing the system, always take into account the temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees.
The deep-groove ball bearing has a bore of 60 mm, an outside diameter of 110 mm and a width of 22 mm. The ball rows are arranged in a single-row configuration without a flange or groove on the outer ring. Both rings and the rolling elements are made of standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, which offers high dimensional stability.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. The internal clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways is greater. As a result, the bearing helps to prevent mechanical stress when the shaft heats up during operation or when fits with a large interference are installed.
The hard-fabric cage is made from a low-density laminate-based material. This design reduces the centrifugal forces acting on the cage and helps ensure quiet operation at higher rotational speeds. Furthermore, the material exhibits favourable damping properties, which help to reduce vibrations during operation.
Tolerance class P6, also known internationally as ABEC 3, defines tighter manufacturing tolerances for dimensional and running accuracy than the standard ‘Normal’ class. This results in reduced runout error in the rings. Applications with high demands on running smoothness and shaft guidance benefit directly from these tighter tolerance limits.
The open design has neither cover seals nor sliding seals on the end faces. Lubricants from the machine housing, such as circulating gear oil or grease, can reach the raceways unimpeded. However, the open installation requires separate housing seals to prevent the ingress of foreign bodies and dirt particles.
The permissible temperature range for this roller bearing is between -20 and +120 degrees Celsius. Both the roller bearing steel and the hard-fibre cage are specified for this operating range. When using the bearing, you should ensure that the lubricant used is also approved for the prevailing operating temperatures.
