The FAG 623 deep-groove ball bearing accommodates both radial and axial loads whilst maintaining compact dimensions of 3 × 10 × 4 mm.
This single-row FAG 623 deep-groove ball bearing is characterised by its compact design and is manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6). This miniature bearing is used wherever rotational movements with low frictional resistance need to be guided within very confined spaces. Thanks to its flangeless, grooveless cylindrical outer ring, the bearing can be fitted precisely into corresponding cylindrical housing bores.
This miniature bearing is suitable for designs with limited installation space, where small shaft diameters and moderate loads are present. The deep groove geometry of the raceways primarily absorbs radial forces, but, due to its design, also supports axial forces in both directions. Thanks to the integrated sheet steel cage, the rolling elements remain at a uniform distance apart even during dynamic rotational movements. The material design allows for an operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius in the intended assemblies.
As an open rolling bearing, this variant is supplied ex-works without either cover plates or sealing plates. The absence of abrasive sealing lips keeps rotational resistance to a minimum, which promotes smooth running and low torques. The lubricant can reach the raceways directly, but protective measures against ingress of dirt are required in the surrounding environment. The manufactured tolerance class P0/PN (corresponding to ABEC 1) and the standard radial clearance are tailored to common installation conditions for standard shaft and housing fits.
This miniature bearing has an inner diameter of 3 mm, an outer diameter of 10 mm and a width of 4 mm. Thanks to these dimensions, the roller bearing is suitable for compact axles and shafts in space-saving designs.
Open roller bearings have neither cover plates nor sealing discs, thereby eliminating friction losses caused by rubbing sealing lips. The lubricant reaches the rolling elements and the sheet steel cage directly. The design requires a clean environment or a sealed housing to protect against contamination.
P0 and PN denote the standard tolerance class, whilst ABEC 1 represents the corresponding classification in the US system. This classification indicates a standard manufacturing accuracy in terms of concentricity and dimensional stability, designed for typical industrial turning applications.
Both the bearing rings and the rolling elements are made from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6). This material offers high hardness and wear resistance for operational use. A sheet-steel cage is used to guide the rolling elements.
The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. Within these limits, both the roller bearing steel used and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability and mechanical load-bearing capacity.
The standard radial bearing clearance refers to the defined radial clearance between the outer ring, rolling elements and inner ring when the bearing is in its unassembled state. It serves to compensate for operational expansion caused by heat or the shaft’s fit allowance.
