The FAG 626 deep-groove ball bearing, with its compact dimensions of 6 × 19 × 6 mm, features an open design suitable for a wide range of radial loads.
The 626 deep-groove ball bearing is a single-row miniature rolling bearing conforming to standard tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. It primarily accommodates radial and axial forces. Thanks to its open design without sealing washers, this version is particularly suitable for applications where lubricant is supplied from the outside or where the bearing runs in a sealed housing. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) with a robust sheet steel cage, this design is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees.
This miniature bearing is primarily used in compact designs with limited installation space and small shaft diameters. Designers utilise the dimensions of a 6 mm bore and a 19 mm outer diameter for space-saving shaft mountings. As the open bearing has no integrated seals, it operates with very low rotational resistance. It requires a clean installation environment or external housing seals to prevent the ingress of dirt particles.
The open design of the bearing is characterised by minimised friction, as there are no sealing lips in contact with the rolling elements to affect concentricity. The bearing has a standard radial clearance, which is intended for typical installation conditions with moderate temperature differences. Users should note that this bearing must be lubricated with grease or oil before commissioning. The integrated sheet steel cage keeps the rolling elements spaced apart and ensures even load distribution during operation.
With an internal diameter of 6 mm, an external diameter of 19 mm and a width of 6 mm, this bearing belongs to the category of miniature deep-groove ball bearings. These dimensions allow for space-saving installation on slender shafts under radial loads.
As an open bearing, this variant deliberately does not use sealing washers in order to minimise friction losses and heat build-up. The design is intended for applications in which the bearing housing is sealed externally within the machine casing or is supplied by an existing lubricating oil circuit.
The standard radial bearing clearance defines the intended radial play between the outer ring, inner ring and rolling elements. It is designed for standard mounting conditions and conventional fits, where there are no extreme temperature differences between the bearing rings.
The permissible temperature range for this version is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. Both the 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and the sheet steel cage are designed for this range. In practice, however, the actual temperature limit depends largely on the lubricant used.
P0, or ABEC 1, refers to the standard tolerance class for rolling bearings in terms of dimensional and running accuracy. It offers a balanced combination of manufacturing precision and cost-effectiveness for everyday industrial applications in mechanical engineering.
As the bearing is manufactured in an open configuration, it requires professional initial greasing or lubrication via an oil system before commissioning. Use lubricants suitable for the relevant operating conditions to prevent metal-to-metal contact between the components.
