The SKF 16011 deep-groove ball bearing, measuring 55x90x11 mm, offers a narrow design and precise running for compact shaft mountings.
The 16011 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing from the particularly narrow 160 series. It primarily absorbs radial forces whilst also supporting axial loads in both directions. The open design, without integrated seals, allows for direct lubrication via the surrounding system. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel in the SKF Explorer performance class, this design combines high material quality with smooth running characteristics in demanding industrial applications.
Typical applications for the 16011 deep groove ball bearing include general mechanical engineering, gearboxes and powertrains with limited axial installation space. With a narrow width of 11 mm and an outer diameter of 90 mm, this design is suitable for applications where axial installation space is limited. In sealed housings, the open bearing runs directly in an oil bath or within the circulating lubrication system of power units and pumps.
Manufacture to tolerance class P6 (corresponding to ABEC 3) is characterised by tighter dimensional and running tolerances compared with standard tolerances. This improves the shaft’s concentricity and reduces vibrations at medium to high speeds. As the bearing has a standard radial clearance and is guided by a sheet steel cage, installation remains straightforward. Designers should simply ensure that protection against dirt and moisture is provided by the housing design.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 55 mm, an outer diameter of 90 mm and a narrow width of 11 mm. These dimensions make the 16011 deep-groove ball bearing a space-saving solution for shaft mountings where the axial installation space within the housing is limited.
Tolerance class P6, also known as ABEC 3 in the Anglo-American region, defines tighter dimensional, geometric and running accuracy tolerances than the standard tolerance. Components with a P6 classification achieve improved concentricity. They operate with lower vibration levels, which has a positive effect on the operational behaviour of gearboxes and motors.
Open roller bearings have neither cover plates nor sealing rings at their ends. This design allows lubricating oils or housing greases to circulate freely around the rolling elements and raceways. Furthermore, an open bearing does not generate any friction-induced sealing torque, which means it runs particularly smoothly.
The model is designed for an permissible temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. The built-in sheet steel cage and the standard 100Cr6 roller bearing steel retain their dimensional stability within this range. It is essential to always use a lubricant whose viscosity is matched to the respective operating temperature.
Bearings in the Explorer series undergo optimised manufacturing processes at SKF. These include a refined surface finish on the raceways and a uniform steel quality. These characteristics contribute to an even load distribution between the balls and grooves and help ensure a long service life under industrial conditions.
The bearing is manufactured with a standard radial clearance. This standard clearance is suitable for standard fit conditions on the shaft and housing, as well as for applications without extreme temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. It is therefore fitted in accordance with tried-and-tested standard guidelines.
