The FAG 6316-C3 single-row deep-groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 80 × 170 × 39 mm and increased C3 clearance, ensures reliable operation under thermal stress.
This open deep-groove ball bearing 6316-C3 from FAG accommodates radial loads as well as axial loads in both directions. Manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel 100Cr6, a sturdy sheet-steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly along the deep raceways. As it has no integrated seals, the bearing is suitable for designs with external housing seals and a targeted supply of lubricating oil or grease. The permissible temperature range is from –20 to +150 degrees Celsius.
This design is suitable for bearing arrangements subject to combined radial and axial loads on an 80 mm shaft in clean, externally protected housing spaces. Thanks to its open design, the lubricant can be replaced or circulated directly via the housing. The bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1) and has a smooth outer ring without a flange or circumferential groove. It is designed for applications where a lubrication circuit is present.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance in the as-supplied condition compared with the standard version. If interference fits are selected for the shaft and housing, the inner ring expands or the outer ring is compressed, thereby reducing the operating clearance. The C3 bearing clearance helps to prevent the rolling elements from becoming stressed should additional temperature differences arise between the shaft and housing during operation. This ensures that the bearing continues to function correctly even in the event of thermal expansion.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 80 mm, an external diameter of 170 mm and a width of 39 mm. These key dimensions enable a precise fit on suitable 80 mm shafts in prepared housing bores with a diameter of 170 mm.
The suffix C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance prior to installation. This allowance compensates for the loss of radial clearance caused by tight fits on the shaft and housing, or by operational heating of the shaft and inner ring.
Open roller bearings have neither cover plates nor sealing plates. They are characterised by minimal frictional torque and allow lubrication directly via the surrounding machine housing, for example through an oil bath or continuous grease replenishment within the sealed housing chamber.
This roller bearing, made from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel and featuring a sheet steel cage, is approved for use within an operating temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees Celsius. It is essential for trouble-free operation that the lubricant used is also approved for the relevant operating temperature.
Inside the bearing is a dimensionally stable sheet steel cage. It keeps the rolling balls evenly spaced, prevents direct contact between the rolling elements, and is designed to withstand the mechanical stresses of industrial operation.
The product is manufactured to the standard tolerance P0/PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 classification. This precision grade meets the requirements of standard industrial applications and ensures that the rings fit perfectly.
