The FAG 6244-M deep-groove ball bearing, with a 220 mm bore and a solid brass cage, offers a robust solution for large industrial machinery.
The 6244-M deep-groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. With an inner diameter of 220 mm, an outer diameter of 400 mm and a width of 65 mm, this FAG component can accommodate high radial forces as well as axial loads in both directions. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, it ensures dimensional stability. Designed as an open bearing, its construction allows for flexible lubrication via the respective unit.
Large industrial drives and heavy machinery require high-load-carrying rolling bearings with high positioning accuracy. The 6244-M deep groove ball bearing meets precisely these requirements. Thanks to its open design, the rolling bearing can be integrated into closed oil circuits or immersion lubrication systems. The permissible operating temperature range extends from –20 to +150 degrees Celsius, meaning the bearing can also be used in applications with elevated process heat.
The suffix ‘M’ denotes a solid brass cage that guides the rolling elements with precision. Compared to standard cages made from pressed sheet steel, brass offers greater resistance to vibration as well as favourable free-running properties. In combination with the standard radial bearing clearance and the standard tolerance P0 (ABEC 1), this model is suitable for drives operating under consistent conditions. When using the open design, designers should ensure an effective external housing seal to keep out contaminants.
With an internal bore of 220 mm, an external diameter of 400 mm and a width of 65 mm, the component complies with standard dimensions. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a ring groove, which facilitates installation in standardised housing bores.
The suffix ‘M’ stands for a solid brass cage. This material withstands severe mechanical vibrations and impact loads better than simple sheet metal cages. Furthermore, brass has good sliding properties, which reduces friction between the cage pockets and the rolling elements.
The permissible operating range is between -20 and +150 degrees Celsius. Both the roller bearing steel and the brass cage retain their mechanical stability within this temperature range, provided that the lubricant used is approved for the relevant operating temperature.
Fitted with standard radial bearing clearance (standard clearance), the bearing is designed for normal operating conditions and standard fit specifications. This is suitable for applications where no extreme temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings during operation.
As the bearing is manufactured without integrated sealing washers, the lubricant must be supplied via the surrounding machine housing. Depending on the design, oil baths, recirculating lubrication systems or manually applied roller bearing greases in conjunction with external housing seals are suitable.
With tolerance class P0 (also known as standard tolerance PN or ABEC 1), this model meets established accuracy requirements. This level of precision meets the requirements of general drive and heavy machinery engineering and ensures a dimensionally accurate fit on the shaft.
