The SKF 61802 -2Z deep-groove ball bearing, with its compact dimensions of 15x24x5 mm, saves installation space whilst maintaining radial load capacity.
The single-row deep-groove ball bearing 61802 -2Z belongs to the particularly narrow series of thin-section bearings. With an inside diameter of 15 mm and an outside diameter of 24 mm, the ring is just 5 mm wide. Manufactured from standard rolling bearing steel 100Cr6, the bearing primarily handles radial loads whilst also accommodating light axial forces. A sturdy sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly within the deep-ground raceway.
Design engineers opt for this design when only minimal installation space is available for a given shaft diameter. The bearing is suitable for designs with limited radial installation space, in which predominantly radial forces are at work. With a permissible temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees, the component is suitable for typical industrial operating conditions. Thanks to the outer ring having no flange or groove, the bearing can be fitted flush into cylindrical housing bores.
The suffix -2Z denotes cover plates made of sheet steel fitted on both sides. These gap seals protect the interior from the ingress of coarser dirt particles and retain lubricant within the rolling element chamber. As cover plates operate without contact, they do not generate any additional frictional heat, unlike abiding seals. In combination with the standard radial bearing clearance and tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1), this design is suitable for constant speeds with high concentricity.
This roller bearing has a bore of 15 mm, an outer diameter of 24 mm and a width of 5 mm. Thanks to its flat design, it is classified as a thin-section bearing, which allows for a comparatively large shaft diameter whilst requiring minimal radial installation space.
The abbreviation -2Z refers to sheet steel cover plates fitted on both sides. They form a non-contact gap seal with the inner ring, keep dirt particles out and prevent lubricant from escaping, without creating any additional frictional resistance.
The bearing has standard radial clearance. This standard clearance provides sufficient radial play for typical fits on the shaft and housing, as well as for moderate thermal expansion during normal operation, without causing any undesirable stresses.
The approved operating temperature range is from -20 to +120 degrees. Within these limits, the material properties of the standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6 and the protective function of the cover plates remain stable.
The inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements are made from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel. The balls are guided and separated by a lightweight, dimensionally stable sheet steel cage, which is designed for standard industrial applications.
The bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to ABEC 1. This defines the standardised dimensional and running tolerances for general machinery and fixture construction.
