With dimensions of 75 × 160 × 37 mm and increased bearing clearance, the FAG deep-groove ball bearing 6315 -C3 offers a high level of operational reliability under thermal stress.
The 6315-C3 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing made from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6) for demanding industrial applications. With a bore of 75 mm, an outside diameter of 160 mm and a width of 37 mm, this FAG unit primarily accommodates radial loads as well as moderate axial forces. Design engineers and maintenance personnel value the design featuring a sheet steel cage, as it operates reliably even under demanding operating conditions. Thanks to the standardised tolerance class P0/ABEC 1, the rolling bearing integrates seamlessly into existing machine systems.
This bearing is primarily used in applications where thermal expansion or high radial forces occur. The open design without an integrated seal allows for direct lubrication via a lubricant reservoir or a lubrication system. At the same time, the absence of abrasive sealing elements minimises frictional resistance, enabling the unit to operate efficiently. For demanding continuous operation, the robust sheet steel cage provides dimensionally stable guidance for the rolling elements.
The C3 designation indicates an increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance between the rolling elements and raceways helps to prevent the bearing from seizing up if the shaft and inner ring heat up during operation or if tight fits reduce the radial clearance. At operating temperatures between -20 and +150 degrees, the roller bearing thus remains smooth-running. For the open version, you should provide an external housing seal to retain the lubricant and prevent the ingress of dirt.
The deep-groove ball bearing has an inner diameter of 75 mm, an outer diameter of 160 mm and a width of 37 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a groove, which facilitates direct installation into suitable housing bores.
The designation C3 indicates a radially increased bearing clearance compared with the standard PN version. This increased internal clearance is necessary when temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings during operation, or when tight fits cause the inner ring to expand. This reduces the risk of the balls becoming distorted under load, thereby improving concentricity.
As an open bearing, this model has no factory-fitted sealing washers and is not pre-filled with grease at the factory. You must apply the lubricant – such as grease or lubricating oil – precisely during assembly or connect it to a lubricant supply system. Furthermore, the design requires an external housing seal to prevent the escape of lubricant and the ingress of dirt particles.
The permissible temperature range is from -20 to +150 degrees. The rings and rolling elements are made of standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), which, together with the robust sheet steel cage, covers this temperature range. In practice, the actual operating limit is determined by the thermal stability of the lubricant used.
The bearing is fitted with a sturdy sheet steel cage. This reliably separates the individual rolling elements and keeps them at equal distances from one another to ensure even load distribution. The sheet metal cage is resistant to common industrial lubricants and retains its functionality even at maximum operating temperatures of up to +150 degrees.
The bearing complies with tolerance class P0 (standard tolerance), which also corresponds internationally to the ABEC 1 classification. This manufacturing precision precisely meets the requirements of general mechanical engineering and drive technology in terms of concentricity and dimensional accuracy. For standard applications, this tolerance allows for straightforward replacement during maintenance and repair work.
