The SKF deep groove ball bearing 6213 -2Z protects rotating shafts from contaminants with cover plates on both sides and compact dimensions of 65 × 120 × 23 mm.
This single-row deep-groove ball bearing 6213-2Z from SKF primarily accommodates radial forces as well as axial loads in both directions. The Explorer performance class version is made from roller bearing steel (100Cr6) and features a robust sheet steel cage. With an inner bore of 65 mm, an outer diameter of 120 mm and a width of 23 mm, the component is designed for standardised shaft diameters. The single-row design of the rolling elements ensures that the cross-section remains compact and straightforward.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from –20 to +120 degrees, thereby meeting a wide range of thermal requirements in continuous industrial operation. The cylindrical outer ring, without a flange or groove, fits directly into suitable housing bores, whilst the standard radial clearance ensures low-vibration operation when the shaft and housing seats are correctly matched. The version without electrical insulation must be used in mechanically isolated environments where electrical currents are present.
The suffix -2Z denotes cover plates mounted on both sides, made from profiled sheet steel. Compared to contact seals, these plates form a narrow gap to the inner ring, thereby preventing any grinding friction torque. This limits heat build-up at high speeds and prevents additional rotational resistance. The shields keep coarse foreign particles out of the bearing interior and help to ensure that the lubricant remains between the raceways.
The bearing has a bore of 65 mm, an outer diameter of 120 mm and a width of 23 mm. These dimensions determine the installation space required on the shaft and in the housing seat, and enable standardised integration into rotationally symmetrical assemblies.
The designation -2Z refers to cover plates made of sheet steel fitted on both sides. These split seals protect the interior of the bearing from the ingress of solid contaminants. As the cover plates operate without contact, they do not generate any additional frictional torque and are suitable for higher speeds than contact-type lip seals.
This component is designed with standard radial bearing clearance. The bearing clearance describes the radial play of the rolling elements between the inner and outer rings when the bearing is unloaded. It is designed for standard fit specifications and normal operating temperatures, where no extreme temperature differences occur between the rings.
The permissible operating temperature range is between -20 and +120 degrees Celsius. This range is primarily limited by the sheet steel cage material, the cover plates and the thermal suitability of the rolling bearing steel. For applications outside this range, special high- or low-temperature variants are required.
The ball bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. This accuracy class ensures defined running characteristics, dimensional accuracy and roundness for industrial applications, provided that the bearing seats on the shaft and in the housing are also manufactured to the requisite precision.
The outer and inner rings, as well as the rolling elements, are made from through-hardened standard roller bearing steel of the 100Cr6 grade. This material is characterised by high compressive strength, wear resistance and dimensional stability under load; however, it does not have any separate electrical insulation as standard.
