The SKF 6052 M deep groove ball bearing, with a 260 mm bore and a brass cage, is designed to provide stable guidance for shafts in demanding industrial applications.
The single-row deep groove ball bearing 6052 M is primarily designed to accommodate radial loads as well as axial forces in both directions. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel, this design has a tolerance class of P0/PN (ABEC 1) and standard radial clearance. This open-type component has neither sealing washers nor cover plates. This allows lubricant to be applied directly from the outside, whilst the system is designed for operating temperatures ranging from –20 to +150 degrees.
This size, with an outer diameter of 400 mm and a width of 65 mm, is primarily used in heavy machinery. Typical applications include heavy-duty industrial gearboxes and large-scale drives subject to high radial forces. Thanks to the cylindrical outer ring without a flange or groove, the bearing can be fitted directly into housing bores to provide precise support for shafts with a diameter of 260 mm.
The designation letter ‘M’ refers to the solid brass cage, which keeps the rolling elements spaced apart. Solid brass is characterised by high resistance to mechanical shock loads, vibrations and acceleration forces. This ensures continuous guidance of the rolling elements during fluctuating rotational movements. As this is an open design, sealing is provided by the surrounding housing structure, whilst lubrication intervals are tailored to the specific operating conditions.
The roller bearing has an inside diameter of 260 mm, an outside diameter of 400 mm and a width of 65 mm. These standardised key dimensions determine the required bearing seat on the shaft and in the housing.
The letter M denotes a solid brass cage. This type of cage guides the balls evenly and is characterised by high resistance to shocks, vibrations and inertial forces during continuous operation.
This deep-groove ball bearing is designed as an open bearing and does not have any integrated seals fitted at the factory. The lubricant reaches the raceways unimpeded, which is why the surrounding structure must be protected against the ingress of dirt by means of external sealing elements.
This model is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance. This standard value ensures the necessary operating clearance between the rolling elements and the rings, provided that standard fits are used on the shaft and housing and there are no extreme temperature differences.
The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees. The dimensional stability of the 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel used, together with the heat resistance of the brass cage, ensures reliable operation within these temperature limits.
The bearing meets the standard accuracy requirements of tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to the international ABEC 1 classification. It is therefore suitable for general mechanical engineering applications without enhanced precision requirements.
