FAG 6018 deep-groove ball bearing: A single-row rolling bearing with a 90 mm bore and an outer diameter of 140 mm, designed for radial and axial loads.
The single-row deep groove ball bearing 6018 from FAG primarily accommodates radial forces as well as moderate axial loads in both directions. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel, this component is characterised by its dimensional stability during continuous operation. Thanks to its open design without integrated sealing rings, the ball bearing is particularly suitable for designs with external sealing and lubrication via an existing oil or grease system. This provides you with a practical, standard solution for a wide range of industrial applications.
Design engineers and maintenance personnel use the 6018 deep-groove ball bearing in rotating bearing arrangements and general shaft guides with a 90 mm shaft diameter. The symmetrical groove geometry guides the rolling elements with low friction in the deep raceways of the inner and outer rings. As no contact seals are fitted, the component runs with minimal starting torque. With proper oil or grease lubrication, the rolling bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +150 degrees, thus covering a wide range of industrial operating conditions.
Lubricant supply plays a key role in the design of the bearing arrangement. The open bearing allows for the unhindered exchange of lubricating oil or grease directly at the contact zones between the rolling elements and raceways. The guided sheet steel cage maintains an even spacing between the balls and contributes to mechanical guidance during operation. With the standard radial bearing clearance and tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, the bearing can be easily mounted on precisely machined shafts and housing bores.
This roller bearing has a bore of 90 mm, an outer diameter of 140 mm and a width of 24 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a ring groove. Before fitting, check that the shaft and the bearing housing correspond to these dimensions.
Open roller bearings are not fitted with seals or cover plates by the manufacturer. They are suitable for installations where the housing is fitted with external seals or where permanent lubrication is provided by an oil circulation system. This allows the lubricant to flow unhindered into the interior of the raceways and dissipate heat directly.
The designations P0, PN and ABEC 1 denote the standard tolerance class for rolling bearings. They define the permissible deviations for bore diameter, outer diameter, width and concentricity. For the vast majority of standard industrial applications and machine designs, this level of dimensional accuracy provides a perfectly adequate fit.
The ball bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +150 degrees. As it contains neither heat-sensitive plastic cages nor elastomer seals, it is primarily the lubricant used that determines the practical operating limit. Always select the grease or lubricating oil to suit the actual operating temperatures of your system.
In this design, a sheet steel cage guides the single-row arrangement of rolling elements. Sheet steel cages are lightweight and allow sufficient space for lubricant within the bearing housing. The material is suitable for standard applications at normal speeds and is resistant to most industrial lubricants.
The standard radial bearing clearance (often referred to as CN) describes the manufacturing-related clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways when the bearing is unmounted. It is dimensioned such that, after being pressed onto a shaft with a standard fit and under normal operating temperatures, an appropriate operating clearance remains.
