The FAG 6308 -2RSR-C3 deep groove ball bearing, measuring 40x90x23 mm, with a ground seal on both sides and a C3 clearance, offers protection against contamination at elevated operating temperatures.
The 6308 -2RSR-C3 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel, manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. It accommodates radial loads as well as axial forces in both directions. A sturdy sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly in the deep raceways. The factory-fitted seal, with sealing lips that rub against the raceway on both sides, ensures that the lubricant remains within the bearing chamber whilst keeping out dirt particles and moisture.
This rolling bearing is designed for applications where dusty environmental conditions prevail and thermal loads occur. The sliding 2RSR seals protect the raceways against the ingress of foreign particles and premature wear. With an operating temperature range of -20 to +100 degrees, the component is suitable for a wide range of industrial bearing applications involving increased heat generation during continuous operation.
The C3 designation indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. If the shaft and inner ring heat up during operation, or if fits cause the inner ring to expand, the increased radial clearance compensates for this thermal expansion without the bearing becoming stressed. The RSR contact seals on both sides protect the internal space and help ensure low-maintenance operation of the bearing assembly.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 40 mm, an outer diameter of 90 mm and a width of 23 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a ring groove, which means it fits into standardised housing bores.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance. This additional clearance between the balls and raceways prevents the bearing from seizing if the inner and outer rings expand to different degrees due to press-fit forces or operational heat build-up.
The designation 2RSR refers to sliding sealing lips fitted on both sides. These come into direct contact with the inner ring and protect the interior from fine dust and splash water. At the same time, they retain the grease inside the bearing, thereby protecting the component from lubricant loss.
The operating temperature range is specified as -20 to +100 degrees. This operating range is limited by the temperature-dependent properties of the elastic sliding seals and the lubricant applied inside.
The rings and rolling elements are made from standard roller bearing steel of grade 100Cr6, which offers high fatigue strength under alternating loads. A sturdy cage made from sheet steel, which is insensitive to vibration, is used to guide the ball row precisely.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance P0, which corresponds to tolerance class PN in accordance with DIN and ABEC 1. This precision grade fully meets the standard requirements for dimensional accuracy, roundness and smooth running in general mechanical engineering.
