The single-row SKF deep groove ball bearing 6213 -2Z/C3 with a 65 mm bore features sheet metal shields on both sides and increased C3 bearing clearance for demanding industrial drives.
This single-row deep groove ball bearing 6213 -2Z/C3 from SKF is designed to accommodate high radial forces as well as moderate axial loads in both directions. The component is made from standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6, with a 65 mm cylindrical bore and a robust sheet steel cage. The design complies with the standardised tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. Cover plates made of sheet metal, fitted on both sides, protect the bearing interior from the ingress of coarse dirt particles and help to ensure that the lubricant remains within the bearing.
Design engineers prefer to use this bearing in rotating shaft assemblies in mechanical engineering and plant construction where high speeds and smooth running characteristics are required. Thanks to the non-contact sealing provided by the gap discs on both sides, the deep-groove ball bearing operates with low friction and does not generate any additional frictional heat at the sealing lips. As the outer ring, with an outer diameter of 120 mm and a width of 23 mm, is manufactured without a ring groove or flange, the rolling bearing can be fitted with a precise fit into cylindrical housing bores.
The C3 designation indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance compensates for operational thermal expansion of the bearing rings or larger fit allowances during mounting on the shaft, thereby counteracting stresses during operation. In conjunction with the specified temperature range of –20 to +120 degrees, the component is suitable for thermally demanding operating conditions in industrial applications.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 65 mm, an outside diameter of 120 mm and a width across flats of 23 mm. The cylindrical internal bore and the flat outer ring surface without a flange allow for easy installation on standard shafts and in standard housing seats in accordance with the relevant standard.
The designation 2Z refers to cover discs made of profiled sheet steel, pressed in on both sides. These form a non-contacting gap with the flanges of the inner ring. Dust and solid particles are repelled, whilst – unlike with abrasive rubber seals – no additional frictional heat is generated, which facilitates higher maximum speeds.
C3 refers to a bearing clearance that is measurably greater than the standard clearance. This is necessary when there are significant temperature differences between the shaft and the housing, or when tight fits are specified. The increased radial clearance helps to ensure that the rolling elements can roll freely even when subject to thermal expansion.
Both the solid rings and the balls are made of through-hardened standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). This material is characterised by high compressive strength and dimensional stability under varying operating loads. The integrated cage for guiding the ball row is made from pressed sheet steel.
The component is designed for operating temperatures between -20 degrees and +120 degrees. This operating range is largely determined by the material stability of the 100Cr6 steel and the lubricant fill applied at the factory. Higher or lower temperatures would require special greases and sealing materials.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance P0 or PN, which corresponds to the international standard ABEC 1. This dimensional and running accuracy meets the typical requirements of general mechanical and plant engineering and is compatible with standardised bearing seat fits on the shaft and in the housing.
