The FAG 6016 deep-groove ball bearing is an open, single-row rolling bearing with dimensions of 80 × 125 × 22 mm, designed primarily for radial loads.
The 6016 deep groove ball bearing is a versatile single-row rolling bearing. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, this bearing accommodates shafts with a diameter of 80 mm in a housing with an outer diameter of 125 mm. The design, which does not include sealing washers, allows for direct lubrication via the machine’s existing oil or grease circuit. With a standard radial clearance and tolerance class P0/PN, this model is suitable for standard applications in mechanical engineering.
Design engineers and maintenance technicians primarily use the 6016 deep groove ball bearing to accommodate radial forces whilst simultaneously transmitting moderate axial forces in both directions. Typical applications include rotating machine components and industrial drives with oil-lubricated or separately sealed housings.
Thanks to its sheet steel cage and open design, the bearing can operate within a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees. As the lubricant reaches the rolling elements unimpeded, the bearing operates with low friction in continuously lubricated machine systems.
As this model has no integrated seals, protection against dirt and moisture must be provided by the surrounding housing structure. Targeted initial and subsequent lubrication with suitable grease or lubricating oil is also required.
Before installation, check the cylindrical fit between the shaft and the housing. The outer ring has neither a flange nor a ring groove, which allows for easy axial positioning in smooth through-bores. The design complies with the standard tolerance class ABEC 1.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 80 mm, an external diameter of 125 mm and a width of 22 mm. These standardised dimensions are designed to fit corresponding shaft diameters in mechanical engineering.
Open roller bearings have neither cover plates nor sealing plates at their ends. The rolling elements and the sheet-steel cage are exposed. This design facilitates the flow of lubricating oil, but requires a clean installation environment or external sealing of the bearing housing.
The component is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +150 degrees. In addition to the 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel, the actual operating limit is also determined by the lubricant selected, which must be approved for the operating temperature of the machine in question.
Normal radial bearing clearance refers to the standard factory-set clearance between the inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements. It compensates for normal thermal expansion and fit allowances during operation without causing harmful stress in the components.
The ring and rolling elements are made from fully hardened standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6. The cage, which guides the balls, is made from profiled sheet steel, combining low weight with sufficient strength.
The bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN, which is also known internationally as ABEC 1. This standard level of precision for dimensions and running surfaces is sufficient for the vast majority of common industrial applications and drives.
