The SKF 6306 single-row deep groove ball bearing, measuring 30x72x19 mm, offers a robust open-type rolling bearing solution.
The 6306 deep-groove ball bearing is a classic rolling bearing designed for shaft diameters of 30 millimetres. The component is manufactured by SKF and is available in the Explorer version. Thanks to its construction from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and a guided sheet steel cage, this bearing primarily accommodates radial forces and axial forces in both directions. The open design allows for direct lubricant supply via the surrounding machine housing.
It is primarily used in enclosed assemblies with centralised oil or grease lubrication that combine radial load-carrying capacity with a smooth start-up. As no abrasive sealing washers are fitted, the component starts up with low frictional resistance. The permissible temperature range is from –20 to +120 degrees Celsius. As there is no groove or flange on the outer ring, the bearing unit can be fitted directly into cylindrical housing bores.
The design without seals is recommended whenever the lubricant is required to circulate freely within the housing or where high rotational speeds demand minimal friction. This model features standard radial bearing clearance and tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), which corresponds to standard industrial precision. Before installation, please note that open bearings must be protected from contamination and dust during assembly, as there is no integrated protection against foreign particles.
The dimensions are 30 mm for the internal diameter (bore), 72 mm for the external diameter and 19 mm in width. The outer ring is cylindrical in shape and has neither a flange nor a ring groove, which makes it easier to fit into standard bores.
An open bearing has neither sealing rings nor cover plates at its ends. As a result, no sealing lips come into contact with the inner ring, which reduces the friction torque. However, the bearing must be sealed by the surrounding structure and lubricated with oil or grease from an external source.
Standard radial bearing clearance refers to the conventional operating clearance between the rolling elements and raceways when the bearing is new and unloaded. It is designed for standard fits and typical operating temperatures, where there is no significant operational heating of the shaft relative to the bearing housing.
The cage is made of pressed sheet steel. This component maintains a uniform spacing between the rolling elements and prevents the balls from coming into contact with one another. Sheet steel cages offer high strength whilst being lightweight, and are designed for the specified temperature range.
The roller bearing is designed for use in a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. The choice of a suitable lubricant is crucial for safe operation within this range, as the lubricant determines the actual thermal limit of the entire bearing assembly.
This component is manufactured to tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1. This complies with the standard dimensional, geometric and running accuracies required for standard industrial applications in mechanical engineering and enables a precise fit when mounted on cylindrical shafts and in standard bearing housings.
