The N226 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing, a single-row idler bearing measuring 130 × 230 × 40 mm, accommodates high radial forces.
The N226 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing from FAG Rolling Bearings is a single-row rolling bearing specially designed for purely radial loads. Due to its N design, the inner ring has fixed guide flanges, whilst the outer ring is flangeless and designed to be removable from both sides. This allows for the free compensation of axial shaft expansion relative to the housing. With a bore of 130 mm, an outer diameter of 230 mm and a width of 40 mm, this component performs classic free-bearing functions in mechanical engineering.
Design engineers primarily use this design in bearing arrangements where operational changes in shaft length need to be compensated for. Typical applications include industrial shaft and drive bearings subject to high radial loads. As the outer ring does not absorb any axial forces, the bearing arrangement prevents unwanted stresses in the system. The fact that the rings can be completely disassembled also simplifies handling during assembly in separate housing sections.
The suffix TVP2 denotes a polyamide cage, which ensures quiet running and precise guidance of the rolling elements. The permissible temperature range is from –30 to +120 degrees. Manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance and in tolerance class P0/PN, the component fits into standardised fit systems. As the bearing is of open design, you can tailor the lubrication supply and external housing seals directly to the operating environment.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 130 mm, an outside diameter of 230 mm and a width of 40 mm. It is a single-row cylindrical roller bearing of type N. The flangeless outer ring can be removed from both ends, which allows the inner and outer rings to be fitted separately into the housing.
In the N design, the inner ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the outer ring has no flanges. This allows the outer ring to move axially relative to the roller set. The component functions purely as a non-locating bearing and absorbs only radial forces, without transmitting any axial forces.
The suffix TVP2 indicates a polyamide cage. This material is characterised by its elasticity, low weight and smooth running properties. It guides the cylindrical rollers precisely and is designed for operating temperatures between -30 and +120 degrees.
As an open roller bearing, this design does not have any integrated sealing washers. Protection against dirt and moisture, as well as the retention of lubricant, must be provided by the surrounding housing structure. Depending on the system’s requirements, you can lubricate the bearing with grease or integrate it into an existing oil circuit.
This cylindrical roller bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance, which is intended for standard fits and normal operating temperatures. The dimensional and geometric accuracy complies with tolerance class P0 or PN (corresponding to ABEC 1), which meets the standard requirements of mechanical engineering.
As the outer ring can be removed from both sides, the inner and outer rings can be fitted separately onto the shaft and housing. This simplifies the installation process for tight fits and allows for easy inspection of the raceways during subsequent maintenance intervals.
