The FAG N214 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing, designed as a free end bearing with a 70 mm bore and a polyamide cage, can withstand high radial loads.
The FAG N214 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing designed for industrial applications subject to high radial loads. With key dimensions of a 70 mm bore, 125 mm outer diameter and 24 mm width, the bearing features cylindrical rollers which, through line contact, can withstand high radial loads. As an open component without an integrated seal, this roller bearing can be flexibly integrated into lubricated housings.
Design engineers prefer to select the N214 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing for shaft mountings where primarily purely radial forces are acting. Due to the N design, the inner ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the flangeless outer ring remains removable on both sides. As a result, the bearing functions as a classic non-locating bearing. It compensates for operational length changes in the shaft caused by thermal expansion directly within the bearing without any axial stress being generated in the bearing seat.
In this design, a dimensionally stable polyamide cage (TVP2) is situated between the rows of rollers. The material ensures low inertial forces, reduces friction and promotes smooth running within the permissible temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees. Tolerance class P0 (standard tolerance or ABEC 1) and the standard radial clearance are designed to ensure reliable operation with standard fits. As the outer ring has no lubrication bore, the lubricant is supplied via the end faces of the bearing.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 70 mm, an outer diameter of 125 mm and a width of 24 mm. These dimensions correspond to the standardised main dimensions for cylindrical roller bearings and make it easier to replace them in existing designs.
The N design is characterised by two fixed guide flanges on the inner ring, whilst the outer ring is manufactured without flanges. This allows the outer ring to be moved axially in both directions. The bearing therefore acts purely as a non-locating bearing and absorbs only radial forces, whilst compensating for changes in the length of the shaft.
The polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rollers with precision and is characterised by its low weight. The damping properties of the plastic reduce running noise and shock loads. The cage is designed for operating temperatures between -30 and +120 degrees.
Open roller bearings are supplied ex-works without either cover plates or sealing plates. They are suitable for environments where housing seals prevent the ingress of dirt. This design allows for direct lubrication with oil or grease and facilitates the flushing of the bearing whilst it is in operation.
Normal bearing clearance refers to the standard radial clearance when the bearing is in its unassembled state, prior to being pressed onto the shaft and housing. Once fitted, the clearance is reduced to the required operating clearance due to the fit allowance. This specification is sufficient for normal operating temperatures and standardised shaft fits.
As the outer ring has no circumferential groove or lubrication bore, the lubricant must be supplied from the side via the bearing housing. When designing the bearing arrangement, it is advisable to position lubrication channels and grease seals in such a way that grease or oil flows unimpeded to the rolling elements.
