The FAG NU320 -E-M1 single-row cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 100x215x47 mm, offers a high radial load capacity and functions as a separable idler bearing.
The NU320 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing from FAG, designed to withstand high radial loads. With a bore of 100 mm, an outer diameter of 215 mm and a width of 47 mm, this open bearing can withstand considerable transverse forces. As this design has no integrated seals, the bearing can be lubricated with oil or grease directly via the surrounding housing. It is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1).
This bearing is primarily intended for bearing arrangements where thermally induced changes in shaft length must be compensated for without constraint. In the NU design, two fixed flanges on the outer ring guide the rollers, whilst the flangeless inner ring can be removed from both sides. This design allows for axial displacement between the shaft and the housing within the bearing. Typical applications are found in general mechanical engineering in bearing arrangements with purely radial force transmission.
The brass cage (suffix M1) guides the cylindrical rollers evenly and withstands dynamic loads and vibrations. Brass is characterised by favourable sliding properties and absorbs mechanical stresses whilst maintaining its dimensional stability. In terms of design, this version is rated for a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. The bearing has standard radial clearance and an outer ring without a lubrication groove; therefore, the supply of lubricant via the bearing environment should be taken into account.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 100 mm, an outer diameter of 215 mm and a total width of 47 mm. Thanks to its cylindrical shape, the bearing can be fitted precisely into the corresponding housing bores and onto suitable shaft seats.
The designation NU refers to a non-locating bearing with two fixed flanges on the outer ring and a smooth, flangeless inner ring. The inner ring can be withdrawn from either side, allowing the shaft to compensate for axial thermal expansion during operation without causing internal stresses. At the same time, this separability simplifies the separate installation of both bearing rings.
The suffix M1 indicates a brass cage. This cage material offers high strength under vibration and dynamic loads. Brass also has excellent sliding properties, which reduces friction between the rollers and the cage during operation.
The open bearing is designed for an operating temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. Within these limits, the rolling bearing components and the brass cage retain their dimensional stability. A suitable lubricant must cover the intended temperature range of the application.
This specification denotes the standard tolerance for dimensional and running accuracy of rolling bearings. It covers common industrial applications where standard requirements for concentricity and fit accuracy apply, without the need for separate high-precision classes.
As the open bearing has no integrated cover or sealing washers, external seals in the bearing housing protect the interior from dirt and moisture. Similarly, a seal on the housing ensures that the grease or lubricating oil applied remains within the bearing housing.
