SKF NU320 ECM/C3 cylindrical roller bearing with a 100 mm bore, 215 mm outer diameter and a brass cage, designed for demanding radial loads.
The NU320 ECM/C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing with an optimised internal design. As an open idler bearing, the design accommodates radial forces only. Thanks to the line contact of the cylindrical rollers, this design offers high rigidity and load-carrying capacity compared to ball bearings subjected to point loads. The solid brass cage guides the rollers with dimensional stability even at high speeds and under varying dynamic loads.
This non-locating bearing is suitable for shaft mountings where thermally induced changes in shaft length must be compensated for without constraint. As the inner ring can be removed from both ends, the assembly can be moved axially without causing axial constraint stresses in the bearing seat. It is primarily used in bearing arrangements that accommodate high radial loads and require precise cylindrical guidance without an axial retaining function.
The NU design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring, whilst the inner ring is manufactured without flanges. This allows both bearing rings to be fitted separately, which simplifies handling during installation and inspection. The increased radial clearance (C3) compensates for thermal expansion at operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees. The necessary operating clearance is maintained even with tight fits on the shaft and housing.
A single-row radial roller bearing from SKF Rolling Bearings with a bore diameter of 100 mm, an outer diameter of 215 mm and a width of 47 mm. The bearing features a robust brass cage, an optimised internal geometry and is designed as an open idler bearing without seals.
In the NU design, the outer ring guides the cylindrical rollers between two fixed flanges, whilst the flangeless inner ring remains removable from both sides. This feature allows for axial compensation of the shaft within the bearing housing and simplifies the separate installation of both rings.
The designation C3 indicates a radial bearing clearance that is greater than that of standard bearings. This additional clearance serves to compensate for operational heating and tight press fits, whilst preventing the rollers from becoming distorted during operation.
The brass cage is characterised by high strength and good run-on properties. It withstands mechanical inertial forces during rapid acceleration and is suitable for demanding operating environments in which standard cages reach their thermal or dynamic limits.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees. Due to its open design without integrated seals, the lubricant supplied by the customer determines the actual thermal operating limit of the entire system.
The dimensional accuracy complies with tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1, whilst the running accuracy is manufactured to class P6 or ABEC 3. This combination ensures precise concentricity with standardised mounting dimensions on the shaft and housing.
