The FAG NU236 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing, with a 180 mm bore, brass cage and separately mountable rings, provides a robust floating support for heavy-duty industrial applications.
The NU236 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing of the NU design. FAG manufactures this version with solid flanges on the outer ring, whilst the inner ring is flangeless. Thanks to this design, the bearing compensates for axial length changes in the shaft directly between the rollers and the inner raceway. With dimensions of 180 mm bore, 320 mm outer diameter and 52 mm width, the component can withstand very high radial forces.
This design is used in mechanical and plant engineering where shaft deflection or thermal length changes need to be accommodated without constraint. It is suitable for bearing arrangements subject to high radial loads and axial displacement. The open bearing design allows for flexible integration into lubrication circuits using oil or grease. As the inner ring can be removed from both sides, the shaft and housing can be fitted independently of one another during assembly.
The brass cage (M1) provides stable guidance for the cylindrical rollers and is characterised by high strength under vibrations or impact loads. The permissible temperature range extends from –30 to +150 degrees Celsius, ensuring that the bearing remains dimensionally stable even under increased operating heat. The bearings are manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0/PN (corresponding to ABEC 1) with standard radial clearance. The outer ring has no ring groove or lubrication bore, so lubrication is supplied via the surrounding structure.
The NU design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and a flangeless inner ring. As a result, the bearing functions purely as a non-locating bearing. It accommodates radial forces only and allows for axial displacement of the shaft relative to the housing directly within the bearing.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 180 mm, an outside diameter of 320 mm and a width of 52 mm. These standardised key dimensions make it suitable for large-diameter shafts in industrial and plant engineering.
A separately mountable inner ring makes installation and removal considerably easier. The inner ring can be pressed onto the shaft separately, whilst the outer ring, together with the set of rollers and the brass cage, is inserted into the housing before the two assemblies are joined together.
The suffix M1 denotes a solid brass cage. Brass cages offer high mechanical stability and perform particularly well under vibrations, high angular accelerations and demanding thermal operating conditions.
FAG specifies a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees Celsius for this open design. The choice of lubricant, which must be suited to the relevant operating temperatures, is always a key factor in actual operation.
This cylindrical roller bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance (CN) and complies with the standard tolerances of class P0/PN or ABEC 1. It is therefore suitable for standard fit conditions without exceptionally high thermal differences between the shaft and the housing.
