The SKF NU2306 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is an open, single-row non-locating bearing with a polyamide cage, measuring 30 x 72 x 27 mm.
The SKF NU2306 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is designed as a single-row rolling bearing to accommodate high radial loads. With a bore of 30 mm, an outside diameter of 72 mm and a width of 27 mm, it complies with standardised mounting dimensions. The Explorer version features an optimised internal design. As the bearing is open at both ends, it can be flexibly integrated into existing lubrication circuits.
As a floating bearing, this design accommodates purely radial loads and compensates for axial length changes in the shaft directly within the bearing. Typical applications are found in general mechanical and plant engineering in bearing arrangements where thermal linear expansion occurs between the shaft and the housing. Thanks to the line contact of the cylindrical rollers, the design achieves high radial stiffness.
The NU design is characterised by two solid flanges on the outer ring, whilst the inner ring remains flangeless and can be removed from both sides. This ability to be dismantled simplifies assembly and maintenance in the structure. The integrated polyamide cage guides the rolling elements with minimal vibration and is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees. When designing the bearing mounting, care must be taken to provide external sealing, as the open design offers no integrated protection against foreign particles.
This single-row cylindrical roller bearing from SKF has an inner diameter of 30 mm, an outer diameter of 72 mm and a width of 27 mm. Thanks to these dimensions and the standard radial clearance, the component can be fitted precisely into standardised housing bores and onto corresponding shaft sections.
The designation NU indicates that the bearing is a floating bearing. The outer ring has two fixed guide flanges for the rollers, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. This allows the inner ring to be removed from either side, which compensates for axial displacement of the shaft and enables the two bearing rings to be fitted separately.
The polyamide cage (designation suffix ECP) maintains a uniform spacing between the cylindrical rollers. Polyamide-based materials are characterised by their low weight and good damping properties. The cage is suitable for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees and ensures smooth running.
This SKF rolling bearing is manufactured to dimensional accuracy class P0 or PN (equivalent to ABEC 1). The running accuracy corresponds to the higher tolerance class P6 or ABEC 3. This combination ensures precise concentricity whilst maintaining installation-friendly dimensional limits for the shaft and housing.
As the bearing has neither cover plates nor sealing washers, the lubricant reaches the rolling elements and raceways directly. Depending on the installation environment, lubrication can be carried out using grease or oil. To prevent the ingress of dirt or moisture, the surrounding housing structure must be fitted with external sealing elements.
At SKF, the Explorer class features an optimised internal geometry of the raceways and rollers. This design reduces edge stresses at the contact surfaces and promotes the formation of a load-bearing lubricating film. The bearing is therefore designed for demanding industrial applications involving high continuous radial loads.
