The FAG NU2218 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing, as an open idler bearing measuring 90 × 160 × 40 mm, can accommodate high radial loads.
The NU2218 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing belongs to the group of single-row radial roller bearings and is characterised by line contact between the rolling elements and raceways. This design accommodates high radial loads. With a bore of 90 mm, an outside diameter of 160 mm and a width of 40 mm, this design is suitable for demanding industrial applications. The open bearing has standard radial clearance and operates within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
This cylindrical roller bearing is designed for bearing arrangements where predominantly radial forces occur and, at the same time, thermal length changes in the shaft need to be compensated for. The NU design functions purely as a non-locating bearing: The outer ring guides the roller set between two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. This allows the shaft to move axially relative to the housing without constraint when it heats up during operation. Applications can be found in industrial bearing arrangements with separate fixed and floating bearing configurations.
The polyamide cage (TVP2) guides the rollers evenly and promotes vibration-damped operation whilst maintaining a low weight. As the inner ring can be removed from both sides, the bearing rings can be fitted separately. This simplifies installation and subsequent inspection. The component complies with tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1). As an open roller bearing without sealing washers or a lubrication groove on the outer ring, it requires a clean installation environment and a supply of lubricant via the bearing housing.
This cylindrical roller bearing has a bore of 90 mm, an outer diameter of 160 mm and a width of 40 mm. These dimensions provide a wide contact surface for withstanding high radial loads in industrial bearing arrangements.
As a thrust bearing, the NU design features two fixed shoulders on the outer ring and a smooth, shoulderless inner ring. This allows the inner ring to be removed axially from either side, enabling thermal shaft expansion to be compensated for without interference directly within the bearing.
TVP2 refers to a solid cage made of polyamide. This material is characterised by its elastic properties and low weight. The cage is designed for continuous use in a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
This design features standard radial bearing clearance. This standard bearing clearance is designed for standard mounting fits and standard operating conditions, where there are no extreme temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
As the cylindrical roller bearing has no integrated seals and no relubrication groove on the outer ring, the lubricant is supplied via the housing design. Depending on the requirements, either grease or lubricating oil is used, in which case external seals must be fitted to prevent the ingress of dirt.
The roller bearing complies with tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds internationally to standard class ABEC 1. This standard tolerance reliably meets the standard requirements in mechanical engineering regarding dimensional, geometric and running accuracy.
