The SKF NU217 ECP cylindrical roller bearing, a free end bearing with dimensions of 85x150x28 mm, offers a high radial load capacity in a compact design.
The SKF NU217 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing with a cylindrical bore for industrial applications. With dimensions of 85 mm inside diameter, 150 mm outside diameter and 28 mm width, the bearing can withstand high radial forces. The Explorer bearing version features an optimised internal design. A polyamide cage guides the rolling elements with low friction. As an open bearing, this version can be flexibly integrated into the plant’s lubrication systems.
Designed as a floating bearing, this design accommodates purely radial loads and compensates for axial length changes of the shaft within the bearing. As the inner ring has no flanges and can be removed from both sides, the inner and outer rings can be fitted separately. Typical applications include bearing arrangements where operational thermal expansion of the shaft must be compensated for. The permissible operating temperature ranges from -30 to +120 degrees.
The suffix ECP refers to the optimised internal geometry in combination with a lightweight polyamide cage. This cage keeps the cylindrical rollers spaced apart and reduces the moving mass within the bearing. In addition to the standard radial clearance, this model offers dimensional accuracy to tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1, as well as increased running accuracy to P6 or ABEC 3. This supports smooth rotational movement on precisely machined shaft seats.
The bearing has a bore of 85 mm, an outer diameter of 150 mm and a width of 28 mm. These standardised key dimensions allow for a precise fit when installed in housings and on shafts with a cylindrical seat. The single-row component is designed as an open bearing without integrated sealing washers.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed flanges to guide the rollers, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. This allows the inner ring to be removed from either side, which makes installation easier. In practice, the bearing acts as a non-locating bearing, as it compensates for axial displacement of the shaft without restriction.
The designation ECP stands for an optimised internal design combined with a polyamide cage. The optimised design ensures favourable load distribution along the roller raceway. The polyamide cage is characterised by its low weight and is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees.
The bearing combines two defined tolerance classes: the dimensional accuracy corresponds to the standard class P0 or ABEC 1, whilst the running accuracy corresponds to the finer class P6 or ABEC 3. This combination enables standardised housing fits whilst delivering enhanced concentricity during operation.
As the bearing is of an open design and the outer ring has no lubrication groove or bore, the lubricant is supplied via the surrounding housing structure. Depending on the operating conditions, greases or oils are suitable, the operating limits of which should cover the permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
The model is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance. This standard bearing clearance is designed for conventional mounting fits and normal operating temperatures. It ensures the required operating clearance between the rollers and raceways, provided there are no extreme temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
