The SKF NJ314 ECP cylindrical roller bearing, with dimensions of 70x150x35 mm, offers high radial load-carrying capacity and specific single-sided axial guidance.
The SKF NJ314 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is designed as a single-row roller bearing with an optimised internal design in the Explorer series. The standardised main dimensions are a 70 mm bore, a 150 mm outer diameter and a 35 mm width, enabling it to reliably accommodate high radial loads. As an open bearing with standard radial clearance, the design is suitable for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. Typical applications include shaft supports which, in addition to considerable radial loads, require a one-sided axial support function.
As a support bearing, this design accommodates high radial forces as well as axial guidance forces from one direction. The inner ring, which can be removed from one side, allows the bearing to be fitted separately from the overall unit, which simplifies installation and maintenance procedures in practice. At the same time, the design allows for a defined axial displacement, effectively compensating for operational thermal length changes in the shaft in the opposite direction.
The ECP suffix denotes an optimised internal design combined with a lightweight polyamide cage. This cage guides the cylindrical rollers evenly and elastically dampens dynamic speed fluctuations. For correct operation, the specified temperature range is -30 to +120 degrees. As the outer ring is designed without a groove or lubrication bore, the lubricant is supplied via the housing environment directly to the end faces of the open bearing.
With an internal diameter of 70 mm, an external diameter of 150 mm and a width of 35 mm, the bearing has standardised main dimensions. This geometry determines the installation space on the shaft and within the bearing housing. Thanks to its single-row design, the component primarily accommodates high radial loads whilst maintaining a compact design.
As a thrust bearing, the NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This enables the bearing to accommodate axial forces in one direction and to guide the shaft. In the opposite direction, the shaft remains axially movable in order to compensate for thermal length changes during operation.
In terms of dimensional accuracy, the bearing complies with classes P0 and PN, or ABEC 1 respectively. In terms of running accuracy, the component meets the tighter tolerance class P6, or ABEC 3 respectively. This specification ensures smooth operation in industrial applications with defined concentricity requirements.
A polyamide cage is characterised by its low weight and ensures quiet roller operation. This material limits the permissible operating temperature range of the bearing to between -30 and +120 degrees. This limit must be taken into account when selecting the lubricant and determining the thermal design.
As this bearing has neither integrated seals nor lubrication grooves or lubrication holes on the outer ring, lubrication is provided externally via the interior of the housing. Depending on the operating requirements, either lubricating oil or grease can be used. A seal on the housing side protects against the ingress of dirt.
With normal radial bearing clearance, the bearing has the standardised radial clearance as supplied. Once pressed onto the shaft and into the housing, this operating clearance is reduced slightly. Normal bearing clearance is suitable for standard fit conditions and moderate operating temperatures.
