The SKF NJ2311 ECP/C3 cylindrical roller bearing combines an optimised internal design with a polyamide cage and C3 clearance, with dimensions of 55 x 120 x 43 mm.
The NJ2311 ECP/C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing designed for demanding industrial applications involving high radial loads. With a bore of 55 mm, an outside diameter of 120 mm and a width of 43 mm, this component is suitable as a precisely fitting machine element for engineering and maintenance. This open bearing from SKF features an optimised internal design and guides the rollers evenly. With dimensional accuracy to P0 (ABEC 1) and increased running accuracy to P6 (ABEC 3), the component fits precisely into defined guidance systems.
The NJ design is primarily used where high radial forces occur and axial fixation in one direction is required. As a support bearing, the design absorbs axial forces in one direction via the single-sided flange of the inner ring, whilst allowing axial displacement in the opposite direction. Such requirements arise in the case of mounted shafts subject to thermal length changes. The inner ring can be removed from one side, which simplifies the separate assembly of the inner and outer rings.
The C3 designation indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This increased clearance compensates for thermal expansion when temperature differences arise between the shaft and housing during operation, or when tight fits are selected. The integrated polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rollers with low friction and vibration damping. When designing the system, please note the permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. As this is an open bearing without a groove or lubrication bore on the outer ring, an external lubricant supply must be provided.
The NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This enables the bearing to function as a support bearing: it accommodates radial loads and unilateral axial forces. As the inner ring can be removed from one side, the inner and outer rings can be mounted on the shaft and housing independently of one another.
The bearing has a bore diameter of 55 mm, an outer diameter of 120 mm and a width of 43 mm. The outer ring is smooth and has no ring groove or lubrication hole. Grease or lubricating oil must therefore be supplied to the roller set via the housing design from the end face.
The version with C3 bearing clearance offers greater radial operating clearance than a standard bearing. It is selected when operational heating leads to temperature differences between the shaft and the housing, or when tight fits reduce the bearing clearance. The increased bearing clearance prevents the rolling elements from jamming and promotes smooth running.
The polyamide cage, designated with the suffix ECP, is lightweight and dampens vibrations during operation. It guides the rollers with low friction and precision. The cage is designed for the specified temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees and is compatible with standard mineral oil-based greases and oils.
As an open roller bearing, the NJ2311 has no integrated seals. Protection against dirt and moisture is provided by the surrounding machine housing, for example by means of radial shaft seals. Grease or oil is applied directly into the roller chamber via the end faces on the sides.
The bearing combines dimensional accuracy to Class P0 (ABEC 1) with increased running accuracy to Class P6 (ABEC 3). This ensures that standardised fit dimensions are maintained, whilst the tighter tolerance on running accuracy contributes to precise guidance of the rotating shaft during operation.
