The SKF NJ222 ECP cylindrical roller bearing, with dimensions of 110 × 200 × 38 mm, offers a high radial load-carrying capacity as a separable support bearing.
The SKF NJ222 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing with a 110 mm bore, a 200 mm outer diameter and a width of 38 mm. In the Explorer version, this rolling bearing features an optimised internal design that reduces friction and promotes a smooth flow of forces during operation. It is primarily designed to support high radial loads. Thanks to its standard radial clearance, the bearing is suitable for standard operating conditions without excessive thermal expansion between the inner and outer rings.
This cylindrical roller bearing is designed for bearing arrangements subject to high radial forces where defined axial guidance is required. The NJ design acts as a support bearing: it guides the shaft in one axial direction whilst compensating for axial displacement within the bearing in the opposite direction. This allows the bearing arrangement to be axially fixed on one side without the need for additional thrust washers.
The suffix ‘ECP’ denotes the combination of optimised internal geometry and a polyamide cage. The polyamide cage reduces the component weight, runs quietly and allows operation within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. As this is an open bearing without a seal and without a lubrication groove on the outer ring, lubrication and sealing are provided by the surrounding machine housing.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 110 mm, an outer diameter of 200 mm and a width of 38 mm. These key dimensions enable the roller bearing to be fitted precisely into the corresponding housing bores and onto suitable shaft seats.
In the NJ design, the outer ring has two solid flanges and the inner ring has one solid flange. This enables the bearing to absorb radial forces and, as a support bearing, to guide the shaft axially in one direction. The inner ring can be removed from one side, which facilitates installation and maintenance.
The temperature range specified for the use of the cylindrical roller bearing is -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. This range is largely determined by the polyamide cage fitted. When designing the bearing assembly, the lubricant selected must also be suitable for these operating temperatures.
This roller bearing is designed as an open type without integrated sealing washers. It has neither seals nor cover plates on the inner or outer ring. Dirt particles and moisture must therefore be kept out of the housing by external sealing systems, such as shaft seals, which also retain the lubricant within the bearing.
The bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance. The radial clearance describes the radial play of the rollers between the inner and outer rings when the bearing is not installed. The standard version is suitable for standard fits on the shaft and in the housing, where there are no extreme temperature differences between the rings.
The bearing combines dimensional accuracy in accordance with Class P0 or ABEC 1 with increased running accuracy in accordance with Class P6 or ABEC 3. This results in tighter concentricity tolerances during operation, whilst maintaining standardised mounting dimensions for the bearing seat on the shaft and in the housing.
