The FAG NJ2208 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row support bearing with a brass cage, designed for shafts with a 40 mm bore, an 80 mm outer diameter and a 23 mm width.
The NJ2208 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing can withstand very high radial loads due to the line contact of its rollers. In the NJ version, the bearing has two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. Consequently, the design supports the shaft in one axial direction, whilst allowing for axial movement in the opposite direction. The open bearing, without sealing washers, is suitable for operation in oil- or grease-lubricated housings at temperatures ranging from –30 to +150 degrees Celsius.
This single-row radial roller bearing is primarily designed to support shafts subjected to high radial loads and unilateral axial forces. Typical applications include bearings in general mechanical engineering with axial guidance in one direction only. As the inner ring can be removed from one side, the bearing rings can be fitted one after the other when the shaft and housing assemblies are separate. The fixed flange on the inner ring acts as a support bearing, meaning that additional components for axial fixation in this direction are not required.
The variant with a brass cage is characterised by high dimensional stability under demanding operating conditions. Brass withstands vibrations and shock loads and guides the cylindrical rollers precisely. In this model, the manufacturing accuracy corresponds to the standard tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), combined with standard radial bearing clearance. The outer ring is manufactured without a groove or lubrication bore, so that the lubricant is supplied via the interior of the housing.
The NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This allows the rolling bearing to act as a support bearing: in addition to high radial forces, it also accommodates axial forces in one direction. In the opposite direction, the design allows for longitudinal displacement of the shaft.
This cylindrical roller bearing has an inner diameter of 40 mm, an outer diameter of 80 mm and a width of 23 mm. Thanks to these standardised key dimensions, the bearing can be fitted precisely into housing bores and onto shaft seats with the corresponding nominal dimensions.
A brass cage offers high mechanical strength and retains its shape even when subjected to vibrations or impact loads. Brass guides the rolling elements with precision and is suitable for mechanically and thermally demanding operating conditions.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. Within this range, the components continue to function correctly. The actual temperature limit during operation also depends on the lubricant selected and its thermal stability.
No, this is an open bearing with no integrated seals or cover seals. The raceways and rollers must therefore be protected from dirt and moisture by the surrounding housing structure. At the same time, the open design allows for direct lubrication with oil or grease.
In the case of NJ series cylindrical roller bearings, the inner ring can be pulled off towards the side without a flange. This facilitates the separate installation of the inner and outer rings onto the shaft or into the housing, particularly where tight fits are required in industrial assembly processes.
