The SKF NJ2205 ECP cylindrical roller bearing combines compact dimensions of 25 × 52 × 18 mm with a high radial load-carrying capacity as a single-row support bearing.
The NJ2205 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing in the SKF Explorer design with an optimised internal structure. With a bore of 25 mm, an outside diameter of 52 mm and a width of 18 mm, this roller bearing can accommodate high radial loads. Thanks to the NJ design, which features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring, the component functions as a support bearing. This allows shafts to be guided in one axial direction, whilst axial displacement in the opposite direction is permitted.
This single-row bearing is primarily designed for bearing arrangements subject to significant radial loads. The support bearing design allows thermal length changes of the shaft to be compensated for in one direction whilst simultaneously accommodating axial guidance forces in the opposite direction. As the open bearing has no integrated seal, it can be flexibly integrated into lubricated housing designs. The permissible temperature range extends from –30 to +120 degrees.
The suffix ‘ECP’ indicates the polyamide cage and the optimised internal design of the Explorer series. The polyamide material reduces the cage’s weight, which dampens inertial forces during speed changes and promotes low-friction operation. Another advantage is its ease of disassembly: the inner ring can be removed from one side, allowing the inner and outer rings to be mounted independently on the shaft and housing. With standard radial bearing clearance and a running accuracy of P6 or ABEC 3, the bearing fits perfectly.
With an internal diameter of 25 mm, an external diameter of 52 mm and a total width of 18 mm, this cylindrical roller bearing is suitable for standardised mounting spaces. Thanks to its single-row design without an outer ring groove, the bearing can be fitted flush into cylindrical housing bores, whilst the shaft is guided through the 25 mm bore.
The designation NJ refers to a support bearing with two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the removable inner ring. This design absorbs axial forces in one direction and allows for axial length compensation in the opposite direction along the roller conveyor.
Normal radial bearing clearance provides the standard operating clearance between the cylindrical rollers and the raceways when the bearing is unmounted. This design is suitable for normal operating temperatures and standardised fits on shafts and housings where there is no need to compensate for extreme thermal expansion or interference fits.
This model is specified for an operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. Within this temperature range, the bearing components and the polyamide cage retain their mechanical stability. If these limits are exceeded or not reached, the choice of lubricant and the surrounding housing seal must be specifically adapted.
As an open bearing, this design has no integrated sealing washers. Lubricants such as oil or roller bearing grease can reach the rollers and raceways unhindered. To protect against contamination and moisture, and to prevent the loss of lubricant, suitable sealing elements, such as shaft seals, must be incorporated into the surrounding housing structure.
The bearing complies with standard class P0 or ABEC 1 in terms of dimensional accuracy. In terms of running accuracy, this version meets the tighter tolerance class P6 or ABEC 3. This specification ensures smooth rotational balance of the shaft whilst maintaining standardised mounting dimensions for the shaft and housing seat.
