The FAG NJ2203 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 17x40x16 mm, offers high radial load capacity and axial guidance in one direction.
The NJ2203 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing from FAG for industrial drive and gearbox applications. With a bore of 17 mm, an outside diameter of 40 mm and a width of 16 mm, this open bearing accommodates high radial loads. The version with standard tolerances (P0/PN or ABEC 1) and standard radial clearance fits precisely into standardised housing and shaft seats.
This cylindrical roller bearing is primarily used where high radial loads occur and the shaft must simultaneously be guided in an axial direction. Typical applications include industrial drives and single-sided guidance arrangements. As the outer ring has no groove or lubrication bore, lubricant is supplied directly via the bearing chamber. To ensure reliable operation, it is recommended that the bearing be housed in a protected housing.
The NJ design functions as a support bearing: the inner ring has a fixed flange and can be withdrawn from one side. This enables the bearing to absorb axial forces in one direction and allows the rings to be fitted separately. The lightweight polyamide cage (TVP2) guides the cylindrical rollers quietly and flexibly between the raceways. The component is designed for a temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees Celsius, enabling it to cope with demanding thermal environments.
This roller bearing has an inside diameter of 17 mm, an outside diameter of 40 mm and a width of 16 mm. Thanks to these standardised dimensions and manufacture to tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1), the component can be fitted with a precise fit onto corresponding shafts and into housing bores.
The abbreviation NJ denotes a cylindrical roller bearing with two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This design acts as a support bearing: it transmits axial forces in one direction, whilst the inner ring remains axially removable on one side, which facilitates mechanical installation.
The suffix TVP2 denotes a polyamide cage. This material reduces the weight of the rotating components, dampens running noise and elastically absorbs shock loads. The cage is designed for the bearing’s permissible operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
Open roller bearings do not come with integrated lip or end seals fitted by the manufacturer. This design is suitable for assemblies with their own sealing system and continuous oil or grease lubrication. The lubricants reach the rollers and raceways unimpeded, enabling the bearing system to dissipate frictional heat via the circulating medium.
Normal bearing clearance (often referred to as CN) means that the internal clearance between the rolling elements and raceways is within the standard range. This clearance compensates for operational expansion of the shaft and housing, as well as the expansion of the rings in standard fits, without causing any undesirable stress.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. Both the metal components and the polyamide cage retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range. When designing the bearing arrangement, care must be taken to ensure that the lubricant used is approved for these temperatures.
