The FAG NJ204 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing, with dimensions of 20 × 47 × 14 mm, can accommodate high radial forces as well as unilateral axial loads.
The NJ204 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing manufactured by FAG with a bore of 20 mm, an outer diameter of 47 mm and a width of 14 mm. Designed as an open bearing, this component requires an external lubricant supply and a suitable housing seal. With its standard radial clearance and standardised tolerance class P0/PN (corresponding to ABEC 1), the design is suitable for a wide range of industrial applications. Rolling bearings in this series are used where rigid shaft guidance and the ability to withstand high radial loads are required.
In the NJ design, the bearing serves as a support bearing. The outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring has one flange. This arrangement enables the bearing to accommodate axial forces from one direction, whilst allowing axial displacement in the opposite direction. This feature is utilised to compensate for thermal length changes in shafts without inducing stress. Furthermore, the inner ring can be removed from one side, which simplifies the separate assembly of both bearing rings.
The integrated polyamide cage guides the rolling elements with minimal vibration and contributes to smooth running. The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. As this is an open bearing without a seal and without a groove or lubrication bore in the outer ring, lubrication must be provided via the housing design. The standard radial bearing clearance is suitable for common fit conditions. Design engineers also value this design for applications where low cage weight and guided roller movement are key considerations.
In the NJ design, the outer ring has two fixed flanges and the inner ring has one flange. This enables the bearing to act as a support bearing capable of withstanding radial forces as well as axial forces in one direction. In the opposite axial direction, the bearing compensates for axial movement of the shaft.
This single-row cylindrical roller bearing has an inner diameter of 20 mm, an outer diameter of 47 mm and a width of 14 mm. Thanks to the standardised tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, the component fits precisely into corresponding housing bores and onto standardised shaft seats in industrial mechanical engineering.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +120 degrees. This range is determined by the polyamide cage used and the thermal stability of the bearing rings. When designing the bearing installation, care must be taken to ensure that the lubricant used is also suitable for this temperature range.
The inner ring can be withdrawn axially from one side, as it has a fixed flange on only one side. This separate mounting facilitates installation: the inner and outer rings can be fitted separately onto the shaft and housing and then brought together axially, thereby preventing damage to the raceways.
As the bearing is designed to be open as standard and has no integrated seals, lubrication is carried out externally using oil or grease within the surrounding bearing housing. Due to the absence of a lubrication channel on the outer ring, the lubricant must be supplied from the side, passing between the rolling elements and the polyamide cage.
Normal bearing clearance refers to the radial clearance specified by the manufacturer when the bearing is unloaded prior to installation. It is dimensioned such that, after the bearing rings have been pressed onto the shaft and housing, and under normal operating temperatures, the bearing continues to run with low friction and without any impermissible preload.
