The SKF NU2205 ECP/C3 cylindrical roller bearing, with dimensions of 25x52x18 mm and a C3 clearance, offers high radial load-carrying capacity when used as a non-locating bearing.
The SKF NU2205 ECP/C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing with a bore diameter of 25 mm, an outer diameter of 52 mm and a width of 18 mm. Thanks to its optimised internal design, the roller arrangement can accommodate high radial loads. The inner ring has no flanges and can be removed from either side for easy installation. As this is an open bearing without integrated seals, it can be flexibly integrated into existing lubrication systems.
Typical applications include industrial shaft bearings where high transverse forces primarily act on the bearing system. As a floating bearing, the NU design compensates for operational length changes in the shaft directly within the bearing. The inner ring moves axially relative to the outer ring without restriction, without causing unwanted stresses in the adjacent structure. The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees.
Two design features characterise this variant: the polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rollers with low friction and promotes quiet running. The slightly increased C3 radial clearance helps to ensure that tight fits on the shaft or housing do not unduly restrict the operating clearance. The free movement of the rollers is maintained even in the event of thermal expansion during continuous operation. The outer ring has no groove or lubrication bore, which simplifies the housing design.
In NU-type cylindrical roller bearings, the outer ring has two fixed guide flanges, whilst the inner ring is manufactured without flanges. This allows the inner ring to be withdrawn from both ends. The bearing acts as a non-locating bearing and absorbs purely radial forces. It compensates for axial displacement of the shaft without any binding.
The main dimensions are 25 mm internal diameter (bore), 52 mm external diameter and 18 mm width. It is a single-row cylindrical roller bearing. Thanks to its wide design, the bearing can accommodate high radial loads whilst maintaining a compact shaft arrangement.
The suffix ‘EC’ denotes an optimised internal design with a modified roller guide for efficient power transmission. The letter P denotes the polyamide cage fitted. This material reduces friction and inertial forces and is designed for use in a temperature range from -30 to +120 degrees.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This margin is useful where press-fits on the shaft or housing cause the inner ring to expand or the outer ring to be constricted. Furthermore, the C3 clearance compensates for temperature differences between the inner and outer rings during continuous operation.
The bearing combines two levels of precision: its dimensional accuracy corresponds to the ‘Normal’ tolerance class (P0/PN or ABEC 1), which facilitates interchangeability in standardised housings. In terms of running accuracy, the bearing meets the tighter tolerance class P6 or ABEC 3, which promotes low-vibration concentricity.
As this cylindrical roller bearing has no integrated seals, sealing is provided by the surrounding housing structure. Shaft seals, labyrinth seals or housing covers protect the bearing chamber from the ingress of dirt and moisture. Depending on the system design, lubrication is provided either by grease or via a connected oil circulation system.
