The FAG NU2214 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing, with dimensions of 70 × 125 × 31 mm, is designed to withstand high radial loads as a separable, single-row idler bearing with a polyamide cage.
The NU2214 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing from FAG designed for high radial loads. With a bore of 70 mm, an outside diameter of 125 mm and a width of 31 mm, this design functions as a classic idler bearing. Designs in industrial mechanical engineering utilise this type to compensate for thermal linear changes in shafts without restriction within the bearing. As the bearing is of an open design, the lubricant is supplied directly via the surrounding machine housing.
Design engineers primarily use this cylindrical roller bearing at bearing locations where purely radial forces are present and axial shaft displacement must be permitted. Due to the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring is flangeless. This allows the inner ring to be removed from both sides, which simplifies handling during assembly and maintenance. When used in conjunction with a fixed bearing, the component supports radial shaft guidance at operating temperatures between –30 and +120 degrees.
The integrated polyamide cage guides the rollers quietly and is characterised by its low weight. This choice of material reduces the inertial forces acting on the bearing during rapid changes in speed. The bearing is manufactured to standard radial bearing tolerances and complies with tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1. As the open design has no integrated seals, an external housing seal protects the raceways against dirt and moisture, preventing premature wear.
This roller bearing has a bore of 70 mm, an outer diameter of 125 mm and a width of 31 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely onto suitable shafts and into housing bores in general mechanical and plant engineering.
The NU design features a thrust bearing with two fixed flanges on the outer ring and a flangeless inner ring. This allows the inner ring to be removed from both sides and fitted separately. During operation, axial displacement of the shaft relative to the housing can be accommodated by the bearing without resistance.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. This range is limited, amongst other things, by the polyamide cage fitted and the lubricant selected. To ensure safe operation at extreme temperatures, care must be taken to select a suitable lubricant for the surrounding structure.
As the bearing has no integrated seals, the lubricant reaches the raceways and rollers directly. Depending on the design of the bearing housing, either oil or grease may be used for lubrication. External housing seals prevent the lubricant from leaking out and stop foreign particles from entering.
The component has the standard radial bearing clearance and is manufactured to tolerance class P0 (equivalent to ABEC 1). Under normal fit and temperature conditions, the standard bearing clearance provides the necessary operating clearance between the cylindrical rolling elements and the raceways of the bearing rings.
A polyamide cage maintains a constant distance between the cylindrical rollers and ensures quiet operation of the roller bearing. Due to the lower density of the plastic, the inertial forces acting on the system are reduced compared with metal cages, which has a beneficial effect under dynamic loads.
