The FAG NUP220 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row fixed bearing with a 100 mm bore, an 180 mm outer diameter and a polyamide cage.
As a radial roller bearing, the NUP220 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing withstands high radial loads and supports shafts axially in both directions. With main dimensions of 100 × 180 × 34 mm and the NUP design, this version is used as a fixed bearing in mechanical engineering. The manufacturer, FAG, equips this open bearing with a dimensionally stable polyamide cage and standard radial clearance, which ensures quiet operation at industrial speeds.
This fixed bearing is particularly suitable for bearing arrangements in mechanical engineering where high radial forces occur and axial fixation of the shaft is required at the same time. Thanks to two fixed flanges on the outer ring, a fixed flange on the inner ring and a separate flange disc, the bearing supports axial forces on both sides.
Design engineers frequently use this arrangement in combination with floating bearings to compensate for thermal length changes in the shaft whilst simultaneously creating a defined fixed point within the housing.
The polyamide cage (designation TVP2) is characterised by its low weight and elastic material properties. Compared with solid metal cages, the lightweight plastic material reduces inertial forces during rapid speed changes and dampens operating noise.
Please note the permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius, as this is primarily determined by the polyamide material. As the outer ring has no groove or lubrication bore, apply grease or lubricating oil directly to the rolling element set during assembly or via the housing.
The NUP design denotes a fixed bearing with two fixed flanges on the outer ring, a fixed inner ring flange and a loose flange disc. This design guides the shaft in both axial directions and, in addition to very high radial forces, also accommodates limited axial guiding loads.
This roller bearing has a bore diameter of 100 mm, an outer diameter of 180 mm and a width of 34 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a lubrication bore nor a ring groove, which must be taken into account in the housing design.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. This range is largely determined by the TVP2 polyamide cage fitted. When selecting a lubricant, users should ensure that greases or oils retain their lubricating properties across this entire temperature range.
Standard radial bearing clearance refers to the factory-defined radial clearance of the rolling elements between the inner and outer rings as supplied. It is designed to suit standard fits on shafts and housings, as well as normal operating temperatures, in order to provide a safe operating clearance after installation.
The bearing complies with the standard tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. This accuracy class fully meets standard industrial requirements for dimensional accuracy, concentricity and axial run-out in general mechanical and plant engineering, and allows for installation in standardised bearing seats.
An open bearing is supplied ex works without any grease filling or integrated seals. Initial lubrication with a suitable bearing grease or lubricating oil is therefore required before commissioning. In addition, the surrounding housing structure must be protected against the ingress of dirt by means of external sealing rings.
