The FAG NU2215 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row non-locating bearing with a brass cage, designed for high radial loads, with dimensions of 75 × 130 × 31 mm.
The FAG NU2215 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing, as a single-row radial roller bearing, accommodates high radial loads. Thanks to the line contact between the rolling elements and the raceways, this design offers high radial stiffness during operation. With dimensions of 75 mm inner diameter, 130 mm outer diameter and 31 mm width, the NU design functions as a non-locating bearing. The design compensates for shaft misalignment within the bearing without constraint, as the inner ring is flangeless and can be removed from both sides.
This rolling bearing is used in bearing arrangements where high radial forces are present and axial thermal expansion of the shaft must be compensated for. Such operating conditions frequently occur in rotating industrial drives due to thermally induced changes in length. As the outer ring has two fixed guide flanges, whilst the inner ring has a smooth finish on both sides, the bearing does not transmit any axial forces. In practice, this floating bearing arrangement is usually combined with a separate fixed bearing, which provides the defined axial guidance for the shaft.
The abbreviation M1 indicates a solid brass cage which guides the cylindrical rollers and absorbs mechanical stresses. Brass materials offer high dimensional stability under impact loads, vibrations and rapid acceleration. The bearing is approved for operation within a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. As the bearing is of an open design and has no integrated lip seals, the lubricant and housing seal must be selected to suit the ambient conditions.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 75 mm, an outside diameter of 130 mm and a width of 31 mm. It is a single-row radial cylindrical roller bearing. The outer ring guides the set of rollers between two fixed flanges, whilst the bore is cylindrical.
The NU design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring to guide the cylindrical rollers, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. This allows the inner ring to be withdrawn from either side. The bearing acts purely as a non-locating bearing and compensates for axial length changes in the rotating shaft within the bearing.
The solid brass cage, identified by the suffix M1, guides the cylindrical rollers along the pitch circle. Brass is a material that offers excellent resistance to vibrations and dynamic forces. This design is therefore suitable for mechanically demanding industrial applications involving varying speeds.
The bearing is manufactured with a standard radial clearance, which is sufficient for normal operation. The dimensional and running accuracy complies with the P0 and PN standards respectively and is comparable to tolerance class ABEC 1. This contributes to smooth running characteristics during operation.
The permissible operating temperature range extends from -30 to +150 degrees. In addition to the dimensional stability of the rolling elements, the main limiting factors during operation are the selected lubricant. When selecting a lubricant, care must be taken to ensure that it is suitable for the actual operating temperatures at the bearing location.
As an open bearing, the NU2215 -E-M1 is supplied from the factory without either cover plates or sealing washers. For normal operation, the bearing housing requires an external seal in the surrounding casing. Sealing elements such as radial shaft seals or labyrinth systems help to prevent the escape of lubricant and the ingress of particles.
