The SKF N310 ECP/C3 cylindrical roller bearing, with a 50 mm bore and increased C3 clearance, is designed as a separable support bearing for high radial loads.
The N310 ECP/C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing designed to accommodate high radial forces. In the N design, the inner ring guides the cylindrical rollers between two fixed flanges, whilst the flangeless outer ring is designed to be removable from both sides. SKF manufactures this design with an optimised internal structure and a polyamide cage. The open bearing, which has no integrated seal, is designed for an operating temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
In mechanical drives, this single-row cylindrical roller bearing functions purely as a non-locating bearing on the rotating shaft. Thanks to the outer ring, which can be removed from both ends, the bearing unit compensates for operational length changes in the shaft axially in both directions without constraint within the housing. This design is suitable for bearing arrangements in which only high radial loads are present and no axial guidance is required. To provide complete shaft support, it is therefore always intended to be combined with a separate fixed bearing.
The version with bearing clearance class C3 has a greater radial bearing clearance than the standard tolerance when new. This increased operating clearance counteracts stress on the rolling elements when tight fits on the shaft and housing cause the bearing ring to expand, or when temperature differences occur during operation. The dimensional tolerances according to P0/PN or ABEC 1 apply to installation. The running accuracy complies with the specifications according to P6 or ABEC 3 and ensures smooth rolling of the rolling elements.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 50 mm, an outer diameter of 110 mm and a width of 27 mm. These dimensions define the required installation space on the shaft and in the housing bore. The outer ring has neither lubrication grooves nor lubrication holes.
In the N design, the inner ring guides the cylindrical rollers between two fixed flanges. The outer ring, on the other hand, has no flanges and can be completely removed from both sides. As a result, the component functions exclusively as a non-locating bearing and absorbs purely radial forces without any axial guiding forces.
The designation C3 indicates an increased radial bearing clearance compared with standard bearings. This clearance compensates for diameter variations caused by tight fits on the shaft and housing or by thermal expansion during operation. The increased clearance reduces the risk of the rollers becoming radially jammed.
The polyamide cage maintains an even spacing between the cylindrical rollers and is characterised by its low weight. The material runs smoothly and quietly. It limits the permissible operating range of the bearing to between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius.
As this cylindrical roller bearing is manufactured without integrated seals, it is sealed by the surrounding machine housing. Depending on the system, lubrication is provided either via external grease fillings or an oil circulation system. Regular relubrication helps to protect the raceways from premature wear.
The component combines two levels of precision: The dimensional accuracy of the mounting dimensions complies with the standard tolerance P0 or ABEC 1. The running accuracy of the rotating components meets the tighter tolerance class P6 or ABEC 3, which contributes to improved concentricity during operation.
